Keyless; fully local; zero upstream calls.

Bedouin nomadic material culture gets a brief mention in general heritage references, but the questions that come up when it gets specific — how is a bayt al-sha'ar actually woven, what's the men's side of the tent called, what is transhumance, what's a khurj, is sadu the same thing as a kilim, do Bedouin still live in tents today — answered from one hand-curated reference, without a scroll through inconsistent travel blogs or a romanticized or dismissive take on a real way of life.
The goat-hair weaving material and technique, the horizontal ground loom ("nol") it is woven on, and how
woven panels, center poles ("amoud") and guy ropes come together into the finished bayt al-sha'ar tent
(tent_construction_info); the tent's traditional interior division — the shiqq (men's/reception side) and
the family side, split by the ma'nad curtain — and its hospitality function, cross-referencing the turath
connector's majlis custom content for the settled-house version of the same custom rather than duplicating it
(tent_layout_guide); pastoralism and herding basics, seasonal migration (transhumance), water and wells, and
the camel's central role (nomadic_life_info); one nomadic-life object's description and use — the khurj
saddlebag, shakwa goatskin churn, mihbash mortar, sadu floor rugs, girba waterskin, shugduf camel litter, or
amoud tent pole (object_info); search across all of them by name, alias, category or use (object_search);
goat-hair and wool weaving technique, distinguishing structural tent cloth from decorative flatweave rugs and
explaining how both relate to — and differ from — the separate Turkish/Persian kilim tradition
(textile_technique_guide); guest-receiving customs specific to tent life — the arrival custom, hospitality's
traditional duration and obligation, and its role in a household's reputation — cross-referencing the
dedicated qahwa connector for coffee preparation and serving etiquette rather than duplicating it
(hospitality_in_the_tent_guide); a factual, neutral note on the shift from nomadic to settled or urban life
across the region today (modern_transition_info); and a glossary of about a dozen nomadic-life terms —
bayt al-sha'ar, shiqq, ma'nad, nol, khurj, shakwa, rahil, amoud, girba, transhumance, sadu, and badu/Bedouin
(nomadic_glossary).
Not a travel or purchasing guide, and not a claim that any single tribe's or family's practice is the only
correct version — terminology and custom varied by region, era and family, and the data notes this where it
matters. Deliberately distinct from the turath connector, which covers bayt al-sha'ar tent weaving and the
majlis custom only briefly as two entries among 18 broader Arab heritage crafts and practices: this connector
goes far deeper into tent construction, internal layout, nomadic-life objects, textile technique and the
modern transition, cross-referencing turath's majlis content and the qahwa connector's coffee-serving
detail rather than repeating either. modern_transition_info is deliberately neutral: it does not present the
nomadic past as a lost, simpler golden age, and it does not present it as backward or primitive either — fully
nomadic tent life is described factually as a small minority lifestyle across the region today, alongside the
living heritage practices (sadu weaving, hospitality customs, the coffee ceremony) that continue regardless of
where people now live.
tent_construction_info — The goat-hair weaving material and technique behind the bayt al-sha'ar tent, the horizontal ground loom ('nol') it is woven on, how narrow woven panels are sewn into a full roof sheet, and how the finished cloth, center poles ('amoud'), side walls and guy ropes come together into the pitched tent. Use for "how is a Bedouin tent made", "what loom is used to weave a bayt al-sha'ar", "why is the tent made of goat hair".
tent_layout_guide — The traditional division of a bayt al-sha'ar's interior — the ma'nad curtain splitting the shiqq (men's/guest reception side) from the family side — and its social and hospitality function, cross- referencing the turath connector's majlis_custom_guide for the settled-house version of the same custom rather than duplicating it. Use for "what's the men's side of a Bedouin tent called", "how is a Bedouin tent divided", "what is a ma'nad".
nomadic_life_info — Bedouin pastoralism and herding basics, seasonal migration (transhumance), water and wells, and the camel's central role in nomadic life. Omit topic to get all four. Use for "how did Bedouin herd livestock", "what is transhumance", "why was the camel so important to Bedouin life". Args: topic.
object_info — One traditional nomadic-life object's description and use — the khurj saddlebag, shakwa goatskin churn, mihbash mortar and hand mill, sadu-woven floor rugs, girba waterskin, shugduf camel litter, or amoud tent pole. Use for "what's a khurj", "what is a shakwa used for", "what's a shugduf". Args: name.
object_search — Search all nomadic-life objects by partial name, alias, category, or a word from its description or use. Use for "what objects were used to transport water", "nomadic tools for making butter". Args: query.
textile_technique_guide — Goat-hair and wool weaving technique on the Bedouin ground loom, distinguishing plain structural tent cloth from decorative flat-woven rugs, cushions and saddlebags, and explaining how both relate to — and differ from — the separate Turkish/Persian kilim tradition. Use for "how is sadu different from a kilim", "is Bedouin weaving the same as a kilim", "what's the difference between tent cloth and a rug".
hospitality_in_the_tent_guide — Guest-receiving customs specific to tent life — the arrival custom of sheltering and feeding a guest before questioning them, the traditional duration and obligation of hospitality, and how a household's hospitality reflected on its reputation — cross-referencing the dedicated qahwa connector for coffee preparation, equipment and serving etiquette rather than duplicating it. Use for "how are guests received in a Bedouin tent", "how long is a guest traditionally hosted", "why is hospitality so important to Bedouin culture".
modern_transition_info — A factual, neutral note on the shift from nomadic tent-based pastoral life to settled or urban life across the Arabian Peninsula and wider region — its historical drivers, current status, and the living cultural practices that continue today. Neither romanticizes the nomadic past nor disparages it: fully nomadic tent life is described as a small minority lifestyle today, not as a loss or as something backward. Use for "do Bedouin still live in tents", "why did Bedouin settle down", "is nomadic life still practiced today".
nomadic_glossary — Definitions of common Bedouin nomadic-life terms (bayt al-sha'ar, shiqq, ma'nad, nol, khurj, shakwa, rahil, amoud, girba, transhumance, sadu, badu/Bedouin). Use for "what does shiqq mean", "what is rahil", "what does ma'nad mean". Args: term.

What Khayma (Tent) is. Khayma (Tent) is a connector (an MCP server and REST API) that AI assistants and personal agents call on your behalf for a hand-curated Bedouin nomadic material-culture reference — tent construction and weaving, tent layout, pastoralism and seasonal migration, nomadic-life objects, textile technique, tent hospitality customs, the modern transition to settled life, and a glossary. You interact with your assistant; the assistant sends us only the arguments needed for that one lookup.
What we receive. The arguments of each tool call — an object name, a search query, a nomadic-life topic, or a glossary term — the technical headers needed to serve the request (an IP address or a client identifier supplied by the assistant, and a Pro API key if you have one), and standard server logs.
Everything is answered from a bundled, hand-curated reference file and nothing is stored. No request is forwarded to any third party — there is no upstream call at all, live or otherwise — and no query is logged in request bodies, recorded, or used to train anything.
What we do not receive or store. We do not receive your conversation with the assistant or your name, and we do not build a profile from your queries: each request is answered independently and nothing carries over between requests. Rate-limit counters (a client identifier and timestamps) are held in memory for at most 24 hours. Hosting-provider access logs, which contain IP addresses and request paths but not request bodies, are retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention.
Sub-processors. None — the entire dataset is bundled with the server and answered locally. Hosting: Vercel (United States regions).
Legal bases and your rights. Our processing is necessary to provide the service you request through your assistant. Because we store no personal data beyond short-lived logs, requests to access, correct or delete personal data are usually satisfied automatically; you can still contact agent@connectorbay.com and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information and do not use your data to train models.
Children. Khayma (Tent) is a general-audience service operated by the adult using the assistant.
Changes. We will post changes here with a new effective date.
Effective 24 September 2026. These terms govern use of the Khayma (Tent) connector ("the Service") operated by Unify Dynamics LLC ("we", "us").
