https://odiasayings.connectorbay.com/mcpPOST https://odiasayings.connectorbay.com/v1/tools/{tool_name}, described by the OpenAPI 3.1 spec at https://odiasayings.connectorbay.com/openapi.jsonAuthorization: Bearer <key> raises rate limits.https://odiasayings.connectorbay.com/health · Tool schemas: https://odiasayings.connectorbay.com/tools.jsonThe question that comes up whenever an Odia proverb is quoted — what does "ଧୀର ପାଣି ପଥର କାଟେ" actually mean, word for word and in real life, and when would someone actually say it — answered from one hand-curated, verified reference, without hunting across forum threads and mismatched translations of varying reliability.
55 hand-curated Odia (Oriya) proverbs and sayings, each given in real Odia script, romanized transliteration,
literal meaning, figurative (real-life) meaning, and a short usage note showing when a speaker would actually
say it (explain_saying, search_sayings). Sayings are browsable by theme — perseverance, greed, friendship,
money, hypocrisy, and more (sayings_by_theme, list_themes) — with a saying of the day and a genuinely
random pick for variety (saying_of_the_day, random_saying), a way to find sayings that share a theme
(similar_sayings), and a glossary of terms used throughout (glossary).
Every entry's Odia-script text and meaning was checked against at least one independent public source before being included: a curated Odia-proverb thread on a social-archiving site (rattibha.com, 127 proverbs with Odia text and English equivalents), a WordPress folklore post (kichhikatha.wordpress.com) listing 19 proverbs in Odia script, and an Odisha State Open University (OSOU) literary-translation course PDF discussing several of the same proverbs academically. Several sayings appear independently across two or three of these sources, which is exactly the kind of cross-corroboration this batch's build instructions call for. Sayings whose literal wording touched caste, a specific religious community, or a gender/group stereotype were dropped rather than reworded, even where an English equivalent was available.
Not a claim that these are the only Odia proverbs, or the single "correct" phrasing of each — Odia is a living, regional language and the same idea often circulates in more than one wording. This connector favors well-corroborated, everyday sayings over obscure or contested ones, and it is not a substitute for learning proverbs directly from an Odia-speaking community. Odia is spoken across many faiths and regions of Odisha and beyond; no saying here is framed as belonging to one community. Fully local, zero upstream calls, nothing stored.
search_sayings — Keyword search across every saying's Odia text, transliteration, literal/figurative meaning and theme. Use for "find an Odia saying about greed", "any proverb mentioning a dog". Args: query.
sayings_by_theme — Every saying filed under one theme. Use list_themes to see valid theme names. Use for "give me all the Odia sayings about friendship". Args: theme.
list_themes — Every theme with how many sayings are filed under it. Use for "what topics of Odia proverbs do you have", "list saying categories".
explain_saying — Full breakdown of one saying: its Odia script, transliteration, literal meaning, figurative meaning and a usage note showing when an Odia speaker would actually say it. Use for "what does this Odia proverb really mean", "explain this saying". Args: saying.
saying_of_the_day — One Odia saying, the same for every caller across a given UTC day. Use for "Odia proverb of the day", "teach me a saying today".
random_saying — A genuinely random Odia saying, different on every call (unlike saying_of_the_day, which is stable for the day). Use for "surprise me with an Odia proverb", "another one".
similar_sayings — Other sayings that share a theme with the given one. Use for "what other Odia proverbs are like this one", "more sayings about the same idea". Args: saying, count.
glossary — Definitions of terms used across this connector — prabaada (proverb), bhaabaartha (figurative meaning), dhaga dhamali (the whole proverb/riddle genre), and what 'theme' means here. Use for "what does bhaabaartha mean". Args: term.
ok: true with data, or ok: false with a structured error (bad_input, not_found, upstream_error). degraded lists optional sources that were unreachable.Retry-After. initialize and tools/list are never counted.agent@connectorbay.com · connectorbay.com/odiasayings/support

What Odia Sayings is. Odia Sayings is a connector (an MCP server and REST API) that AI assistants and personal agents call on your behalf for a hand-curated Odia (Oriya) proverb reference: sayings, meanings, themes, and a glossary. You interact with your assistant; the assistant sends us only the arguments needed for that one lookup.
What we receive. The arguments of each tool call — a saying, an id, a theme name, or a glossary term — the technical headers needed to serve the request (an IP address or a client identifier supplied by the assistant, and a Pro API key if you have one), and standard server logs.
Everything is answered from a bundled, hand-curated reference file and nothing is stored. No request is forwarded to any third party — there is no upstream call at all, live or otherwise — and no query is logged in request bodies, recorded, or used to train anything.
What we do not receive or store. We do not receive your conversation with the assistant or your name, and we do not build a profile from your queries: each request is answered independently and nothing carries over between requests. Rate-limit counters (a client identifier and timestamps) are held in memory for at most 24 hours. Hosting-provider access logs, which contain IP addresses and request paths but not request bodies, are retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention.
Sub-processors. None — the entire dataset is bundled with the server and answered locally. Hosting: Vercel (United States regions).
Legal bases and your rights. Our processing is necessary to provide the service you request through your assistant. Because we store no personal data beyond short-lived logs, requests to access, correct or delete personal data are usually satisfied automatically; you can still contact agent@connectorbay.com and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information and do not use your data to train models.
Children. Odia Sayings is a general-audience service operated by the adult using the assistant.
Changes. We will post changes here with a new effective date.
