59 real everyday Punjabi phrases in Gurmukhi script, each verified against a real source (omniglot.com's Punjabi
phrases and numbers pages, Punjabi Wiktionary entries) across eight categories — Greetings, Courtesy, Family,
Food, Directions, Shopping, Time, and Emergencies — plus a 1-10 numbers list and a pronunciation guide.
phrase_search searches by keyword across Gurmukhi text, romanization, English meaning and category.
phrases_by_category and categories_list browse by category (or the numbers list). greeting_for_context
suggests a suitable greeting for a given time of day or formality level. phrase_of_the_day returns one phrase,
deterministically chosen by date. family_terms lists Punjabi kinship terms, including separately-named paternal
and maternal grandparents. pronunciation_guide explains Punjabi sound features that the plain-Latin
romanization can't fully capture — aspirated consonants, tones, and nasalization.
Not a complete language course, and not a claim that any one wording is the only correct way to say something — Punjabi varies by region and by speaker, and greetings in particular differ across the multiple faith communities that speak Punjabi (Sat Sri Akal, Assalam Alaikum, Namaste are all included, each attributed honestly to its common context rather than presented as the single universal greeting). Numeral coverage here is deliberately small (1-10); a dedicated numerals reference lives in a separate connector. Fully local, zero upstream calls, nothing stored.
phrase_search — Keyword search across every phrase's Gurmukhi text, romanization, English meaning, category and notes. Use for "how do you say thank you in Punjabi", "Punjabi word for water". Args: query.
phrases_by_category — Every phrase in one category. "Numbers" returns the 1-10 numbers list instead of phrases. Use categories_list to see valid category names. Use for "Punjabi greetings", "Punjabi numbers 1 to 10", "emergency phrases in Punjabi". Args: category.
categories_list — Every phrase category with how many entries it has (including the Numbers list). Use for "what categories of Punjabi phrases do you have".
greeting_for_context — Suggests a suitable Punjabi greeting given an optional time of day and formality level. Use for "how do I greet someone formally in Punjabi", "what do you say in the morning in Punjabi". Args: time_of_day, formality.
phrase_of_the_day — One Punjabi phrase, deterministically chosen by today's date so it's the same for everyone all day. Use for "Punjabi phrase of the day".
family_terms — Punjabi kinship terms — mother, father, brother, sister, and specifically-named grandparents (paternal vs maternal). Use for "Punjabi words for family members", "how do you say grandmother in Punjabi".
pronunciation_guide — Notes on Punjabi sound features relevant to reading the romanization — aspirated consonants, tones, retroflex sounds, nasalization. Use for "how do I pronounce Punjabi words", "what are aspirated consonants".
ok: true with data, or ok: false with a structured error (bad_input, not_found, upstream_error). degraded lists optional sources that were unreachable.Retry-After. initialize and tools/list are never counted.agent@connectorbay.com · connectorbay.com/punjabiphrases/support

What Punjabi Phrases is. Punjabi Phrases is a connector (an MCP server and REST API) that AI assistants and personal agents call on your behalf for a hand-curated Punjabi phrasebook: phrase search, category browsing, a context-aware greeting suggestion, phrase of the day, family terms, and a pronunciation guide. You interact with your assistant; the assistant sends us only the arguments needed for that one lookup.
What we receive. The arguments of each tool call — a phrase, a keyword, a category name, a time of day, or a formality level — the technical headers needed to serve the request (an IP address or a client identifier supplied by the assistant, and a Pro API key if you have one), and standard server logs.
Everything is answered from a bundled, hand-curated reference file and nothing is stored. No request is forwarded to any third party — there is no upstream call at all, live or otherwise — and no query is logged in request bodies, recorded, or used to train anything.
What we do not receive or store. We do not receive your conversation with the assistant or your name, and we do not build a profile from your queries: each request is answered independently and nothing carries over between requests. Rate-limit counters (a client identifier and timestamps) are held in memory for at most 24 hours. Hosting-provider access logs, which contain IP addresses and request paths but not request bodies, are retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention.
Sub-processors. None — the entire dataset is bundled with the server and answered locally. Hosting: Vercel (United States regions).
Legal bases and your rights. Our processing is necessary to provide the service you request through your assistant. Because we store no personal data beyond short-lived logs, requests to access, correct or delete personal data are usually satisfied automatically; you can still contact agent@connectorbay.com and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information and do not use your data to train models.
Children. Punjabi Phrases is a general-audience service operated by the adult using the assistant.
Changes. We will post changes here with a new effective date.
