Covers CPSC-administered consumer product recalls only (not vehicles, food, or drugs). Keyless; nothing about you is stored; a 30-minute in-memory cache only.

"Has this been recalled?", "any recalls for infant walkers?", "what's been recalled for a fire hazard lately?", "pull up recall number 26721" — a live lookup against the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's own public recall database, not a hand-curated list that goes stale.
search_recalls_by_product, search_recalls_by_title, search_recalls_by_hazard, and
search_recalls_by_manufacturer each run a live, case-insensitive substring search against one field of CPSC's
saferproducts.gov Recall Retrieval Web Service (product name, recall title, hazard description, or
manufacturer/importer/distributor name), narrowed to a lookback window in days. search_recalls_by_upc looks up
recalls tagged with a specific UPC/barcode. get_recall_by_number fetches one exact recall by its CPSC recall
number. recent_recalls browses the newest recalls with no keyword. advanced_recall_search combines any number
of CPSC's documented fields at once (AND'd together) for a sharper query, and list_supported_search_fields
lists every field the CPSC service documents.
Every result is a genuine upstream API call to the real, public, keyless CPSC service — nothing here is invented, pre-baked, or a static snapshot. Results are cached in memory for 30 minutes purely to be polite to the upstream; a search returning nothing means CPSC's own database currently has no matching recall for those terms, not that the tool doesn't know.
CPSC documents a Hazard field, but in practice it filters an internal categorical tag that is essentially
unpopulated on current records — searching it directly returns nothing even for hazards that are clearly
described in a recall's text. search_recalls_by_hazard instead searches the recall's description text, which
reliably contains the actual hazard language ("fall hazard," "fire hazard," "laceration hazard," …) and returns
real matches. list_supported_search_fields still lists CPSC's raw field names as documented, in case a caller
wants to build a query against them directly with advanced_recall_search.
This is U.S. CPSC data only — recalls administered by other agencies (NHTSA for vehicles and car seats, FDA/USDA for food, the FDA for drugs and medical devices) are out of scope. CPSC has a UPC on file for only a minority of recalls, so a UPC search returning nothing does not mean a product is safe; searching by product name or title is more reliable. This is not legal advice about your rights or remedies — for a specific recall, follow the remedy instructions CPSC and the manufacturer publish.

What Recall Check is. Recall Check is a connector (an MCP server and REST API) that AI assistants and personal agents call on your behalf to search official U.S. product recall data. You interact with your assistant; the assistant sends us only the specific search terms needed: a product name, recall title keyword, hazard keyword, manufacturer name, UPC, or recall number.
What we receive. The arguments of each tool call, the technical headers needed to serve the request (an IP address or a client identifier supplied by the assistant, and a Pro API key if you have one), and standard server logs.
What we do not receive or store. We do not receive your conversation with the assistant, your name, contacts, or account credentials for any service. Tool inputs and outputs — including the product names, keywords, or UPCs you search for — are processed in memory for the single request that carries them and are not stored. We do not build a profile of what you search for. Successful upstream responses are cached in memory for up to 30 minutes, keyed only by the search terms, to reduce load on CPSC's service; this cache is not tied to you and expires automatically. Rate-limit counters (a client identifier and timestamps) are held in memory for at most 24 hours. Hosting-provider access logs, which contain IP addresses and request paths but not request bodies, are retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention.
Sub-processor. To answer a search, we forward only the search terms (never anything that identifies you) to: - U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (saferproducts.gov Recall Retrieval Web Service) — a public, keyless, no-authentication U.S. government API. The request carries the search terms only. - Vercel — hosting infrastructure (United States regions).
Legal bases and your rights. For users in California, the EU/UK and elsewhere, our processing is necessary to provide the service you request through your assistant. Because we store no personal data beyond short-lived logs, requests to access, correct or delete personal data are usually satisfied automatically; you can still contact agent@connectorbay.com and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information for advertising and do not use your data to train models.
Children. Recall Check is a general-audience service operated by the adult using the assistant. No information about a child is collected or stored.
Changes. We will post changes here with a new effective date.
