About

Turath (Heritage) is a hand-curated, fully local Arab folk heritage and traditional handicrafts reference. craft_info gives one traditional craft or heritage practice's description, region, materials and technique across 18 crafts and practices — sadu weaving, khous (palm-frond) weaving, talli metallic-braid weaving, tatreez embroidery, Damascene mother-of-pearl inlay, mashrabiya lattice woodwork, copper/brass metalwork, Bedouin silver jewelry, Omani khanjar making, traditional pottery, Hebron glassblowing, henna body art, Arabic calligraphy, and a brief pearl-diving heritage note; craft_search finds crafts by partial name, alias, region, material or technique. crafts_by_region groups crafts by Arabian Peninsula/Gulf, Levant, Yemen, Oman, Egypt, or Pan-Arab. falconry_heritage_info gives a factual, historical overview of falconry as a heritage practice, its UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage status (first inscribed 2010, extended several times since), and a note on modern, conservation-regulated practice. majlis_custom_guide covers the traditional gathering, seating and hospitality custom, including its own 2015 UNESCO listing. heritage_site_type_info covers general categories of heritage architecture — barjeel wind towers, old souq architecture, mud-brick construction, coral-stone construction, and mashrabiya — typologically, not as a specific-site directory. craft_materials_guide covers sourcing and traditional use for craft materials like sadu wool, palm frond, mother-of-pearl and copper. oral_heritage_info gives a factual note on Arab oral poetry, storytelling and performance heritage, cross-referencing the dedicated hikaya and adab connectors rather than duplicating them. heritage_glossary defines terms like turath, sadu, khous, majlis, gahwa, bakhoor, sadaf, and barjeel. Keyless; fully local; zero upstream calls.

Sources: Hand-curated from public cultural-heritage and UNESCO reference sources as of build date; fully local, zero upstream calls

What Turath (Heritage) is for

"Turath" (تراث) is the Arabic word for "heritage" or "legacy." The question that comes up when Arab folk heritage and traditional handicrafts get specific — what is sadu weaving, what's a barjeel, is falconry actually UNESCO-listed, what happens at a majlis — answered from one hand-curated reference, without a scroll through inconsistent tourism blog posts.

What it does

Description, region, materials and technique for 18 traditional crafts and heritage practices, from sadu weaving, khous (palm-frond) weaving and talli metallic-braid weaving to Damascene mother-of-pearl inlay, copper and brass metalwork, Bedouin silver jewelry, Omani khanjar making, traditional pottery, Hebron glassblowing, henna body art, Arabic calligraphy and a brief pearl-diving heritage note (craft_info); search across names, Arabic aliases, region, material and technique text (craft_search); crafts grouped by region — Arabian Peninsula/Gulf, Levant, Yemen, Oman, Egypt, or Pan-Arab (crafts_by_region); a factual, historical overview of falconry as a heritage practice, its UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage status (first inscribed 2010, extended several times since), and a note on modern, conservation-regulated practice (falconry_heritage_info); the traditional majlis gathering, seating and hospitality custom, including its own 2015 UNESCO listing (majlis_custom_guide); general categories of heritage architecture — barjeel wind towers, old souq architecture, mud-brick construction, coral-stone construction, and mashrabiya lattice screens — described typologically rather than as a site directory (heritage_site_type_info); sourcing and traditional use for craft materials like sadu wool, palm frond, mother-of-pearl and copper (craft_materials_guide); a factual note on Arab oral poetry, storytelling and performance heritage (oral_heritage_info); and a glossary of heritage terms — turath, sadu, khous, majlis, gahwa, bakhoor, sadaf, barjeel, and more (heritage_glossary).

What it is not

Not a tourism directory, an appraisal service, or a guide to acquiring live animals or protected wildlife-trade materials. heritage_site_type_info covers general, typological categories of heritage architecture rather than a directory of specific standing buildings or sites. falconry_heritage_info describes falconry as a regulated, conservation-conscious modern heritage and sporting practice, not as guidance for capturing or keeping a wild bird of prey — most jurisdictions require permits and modern falconry relies mainly on captive-bred birds under national wildlife law and CITES. Pearl-diving heritage is covered only briefly here, by design: the dedicated bahr connector treats Gulf pearl-diving heritage in depth, and folk tales and poetry are covered by the dedicated hikaya and adab connectors rather than duplicated here.

Tools

Crafts

craft_info — One traditional craft or heritage practice's description, region, materials and technique — covers 18 crafts and practices, from sadu weaving and khous palm-frond weaving to Damascene mother-of-pearl inlay, copper/brass metalwork, Bedouin silver jewelry and Arabic calligraphy. Use for "what is sadu weaving", "tell me about Damascene inlay", "what's talli". Args: name.

craft_search — Search all traditional crafts and heritage practices by partial name, alias, region, material or technique. Use for "crafts that use mother of pearl", "which craft uses palm fronds". Args: query.

craft_materials_guide — Sourcing and traditional use for a craft material — sadu wool/goat hair/camel hair, palm frond (khous), mother-of-pearl (sadaf), copper and brass, silver, clay, camel/goat/sheep leather, and henna leaf — and which crafts each one is used in. Use for "what is sadu wool", "where does mother of pearl inlay material come from", "what is khous made from". Args: material.

By region

crafts_by_region — Traditional crafts and heritage practices characteristic of a region — Arabian Peninsula/Gulf, Levant, Yemen, Oman, Egypt, or practices shared Pan-Arab. Use for "what crafts come from the Gulf", "heritage crafts of Yemen", "Levant handicrafts". Args: region.

Heritage practices

falconry_heritage_info — A factual, historical overview of falconry as an Arab heritage practice — its roots in Bedouin desert life, its UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage status (first inscribed 2010, extended several times since), traditional equipment terms, and a note on modern, conservation-regulated practice (captive breeding, licensing, CITES trade restrictions). Not guidance for acquiring or keeping a wild bird of prey. Use for "is falconry UNESCO-listed", "what is falconry heritage", "how is falconry regulated today".

majlis_custom_guide — The traditional Gulf/Arabian Peninsula majlis gathering, seating and hospitality custom — layout, Arabic coffee (gahwa) and incense (bakhoor) hospitality etiquette, its social role, and its own 2015 UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage listing. Use for "what happens at a majlis", "how is Arabic coffee served at a majlis", "is majlis UNESCO-listed".

oral_heritage_info — A factual note on Arab oral poetry, storytelling and performance heritage traditions — Nabati (Bedouin) poetry, hakawati coffeehouse storytelling, and Al-Ayyala performance poetry — cross-referencing the dedicated hikaya connector for folk tales and adab for poetry, rather than duplicating them. Use for "what is Nabati poetry", "what's a hakawati", "Arab oral storytelling tradition".

Reference

heritage_site_type_info — General categories of Arab heritage architecture — barjeel wind towers, old souq architecture, mud-brick construction, coral-stone construction, and mashrabiya lattice screens — described typologically, not as a directory of specific standing sites. Use for "what's a barjeel", "what is mud-brick construction used for", "how does a wind tower work". Args: type.

heritage_glossary — Definitions of common Arab heritage terms (turath, sadu, khous, majlis, gahwa, bakhoor, sadaf, barjeel, nakhoda, nahham, bisht, khatt). Use for "what does turath mean", "what's gahwa", "what is bakhoor". Args: term.

Conventions

  • Read-only. Every tool reads public data or computes; nothing is written anywhere and nothing about the user is stored.
  • Result envelope. ok: true with data, or ok: false with a structured error (bad_input, not_found, upstream_error). degraded lists optional sources that were unreachable.
  • Rate limits. Free tier 60 tool calls/minute and 300/day per user (keyed on the user identifier supplied by the host agent, else client IP); Pro keys raise this. Over-limit calls return HTTP 429 with Retry-After. initialize and tools/list are never counted.

Privacy policy

Turath (Heritage) — Privacy Policy

Effective 24 September 2026. Unify Dynamics LLC ("we", "us"), Menlo Park, California.

What Turath (Heritage) is. Turath (Heritage) is a connector (an MCP server and REST API) that AI assistants and personal agents call on your behalf for a hand-curated Arab folk heritage and traditional handicrafts reference — craft profiles, regional groupings, falconry heritage, majlis custom, heritage architecture types, craft materials, oral heritage traditions, and a glossary. You interact with your assistant; the assistant sends us only the arguments needed for that one lookup.

What we receive. The arguments of each tool call — a craft or material name, a search query, a region, or a glossary term — the technical headers needed to serve the request (an IP address or a client identifier supplied by the assistant, and a Pro API key if you have one), and standard server logs.

Everything is answered from a bundled, hand-curated reference file and nothing is stored. No request is forwarded to any third party — there is no upstream call at all, live or otherwise — and no query is logged in request bodies, recorded, or used to train anything.

What we do not receive or store. We do not receive your conversation with the assistant or your name, and we do not build a profile from your queries: each request is answered independently and nothing carries over between requests. Rate-limit counters (a client identifier and timestamps) are held in memory for at most 24 hours. Hosting-provider access logs, which contain IP addresses and request paths but not request bodies, are retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention.

Sub-processors. None — the entire dataset is bundled with the server and answered locally. Hosting: Vercel (United States regions).

Legal bases and your rights. Our processing is necessary to provide the service you request through your assistant. Because we store no personal data beyond short-lived logs, requests to access, correct or delete personal data are usually satisfied automatically; you can still contact agent@connectorbay.com and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information and do not use your data to train models.

Children. Turath (Heritage) is a general-audience service operated by the adult using the assistant.

Changes. We will post changes here with a new effective date.

Terms of service

Turath (Heritage) — Terms of Service

Effective 24 September 2026. These terms govern use of the Turath (Heritage) connector ("the Service") operated by Unify Dynamics LLC ("we", "us").

  1. The Service. Turath (Heritage) returns a hand-curated Arab folk heritage and traditional handicrafts reference — craft profiles, regional groupings, falconry heritage, majlis custom, heritage-architecture types, craft materials, oral heritage traditions, and a glossary — from data cross-checked against public cultural-heritage and UNESCO reference sources at build time. It is accessed through an AI assistant or directly over MCP or HTTP.
  2. A cultural reference, not a tourism directory, appraisal service, or wildlife-acquisition guide. Turath (Heritage) is an independent reference tool, not affiliated with or endorsed by any government, cultural institution, or heritage body it describes. heritage_site_type_info describes general, typological categories of architecture, not specific standing sites, and is not a travel guide. falconry_heritage_info describes falconry as a regulated modern heritage practice and is not guidance for acquiring, capturing or keeping a wild bird of prey, which is restricted or prohibited in most jurisdictions without the relevant permits and licenses.
  3. Traditions vary and evolve. Craft techniques, regional attributions and customs described here reflect the commonly documented, widely recognized version of each — practice varies by family, workshop and era, and the Service's own data notes this where it matters rather than presenting one version as definitive.
  4. Acceptable use. Automated use within the published rate limits is welcome.
  5. Availability. The Service is provided "as is" without warranty. We may change, limit or discontinue it at any time.
  6. Data. Our Privacy Policy describes what we process. In short: your query is answered from a bundled reference file, and nothing is stored.
  7. Pro keys. Optional Pro API keys are issued at our discretion, are personal to the holder and may be revoked for abuse.
  8. Liability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Unify Dynamics LLC is not liable for any loss arising from use of or reliance on the Service. Our total liability is limited to US $100.
  9. Governing law. California law; venue in San Mateo County, California.
