What California Employer Payroll Extras is for

California employer payroll items read from state agency pages: new-hire report window (DE 34), 2026 SDI, ETT and new-employer UI rates, paid sick leave accrual and cap. Tools: new_hire_report_due, payroll_tax_rates_2026, paid_sick_leave_rules, obligations_overview.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "My employee started work in California on 3 November 2026. When must the DE 34 report be made?"
  • "What are the California SDI, ETT and new-employer UI rates for 2026?"
  • "What do SDI, ETT and UI come to on $50,000 of 2026 wages for one employee?"
  • "How much paid sick leave does a California employee accrue after 600 hours worked?"
  • "Which California employer items can this tool answer?"

What it does

  • new_hire_report_due: Return the last day to report a newly hired or rehired California employee to the EDD New Employee Registry (20 calendar days from the start-of-work date) and the penalty amounts the EDD page states.
  • payroll_tax_rates_2026: Return the 2026 California SDI withholding rate, ETT rate and new-employer UI rate with their $7,000 or no-limit wage bases, and optionally the amounts for one employee's 2026 wages.
  • paid_sick_leave_rules: Return the California paid sick leave accrual rule (1 hour per 30 hours worked), the 40 hour or 5 day use amount, the 80 hour or 10 day accrual cap and the 90 day wait, and optionally the accrual for hours worked.
  • obligations_overview: List the California employer items this connector has read, each with its source URL, date read and what was not read (employer registration with the EDD was not readable).

Conventions

  • Read-only. Every tool reads public data or computes; nothing is written anywhere and nothing about the user is stored.
  • Result envelope. ok: true with data, or ok: false with a structured error (bad_input, not_found, upstream_error). degraded lists optional sources that were unreachable.
  • Rate limits. Free tier 60 tool calls/minute and 300/day per user (keyed on the user identifier supplied by the host agent, else client IP); Pro keys raise this. Over-limit calls return HTTP 429 with Retry-After. initialize and tools/list are never counted.
