instrument_infobakhoor_guideagarwood_oud_infoattar_perfume_guideburner_types_guideoccasion_guideoud_family_glossarycare_and_etiquette_guidesearchUud (Oud & Incense) is a fully local, hand-curated reference on two related Arab sensory-culture traditions that share one confusing English name. instrument_info covers the oud instrument's construction, parts (bowl body, soundboard, pegbox, strings), typical string count and tuning approaches, as a factual instrument reference (for maqam theory and playing theory, it points to the Nagham connector rather than duplicating it). bakhoor_guide covers what bakhoor incense is and how it is traditionally burned over charcoal in a mabkhara or majmar, with hospitality customs. agarwood_oud_info covers agarwood/oud as a fragrance material — what it is, its forms, origin regions and grading terminology — with no pricing and no medicinal claims. attar_perfume_guide covers traditional non-alcohol perfume-oil (attar) culture and its common note families, including an accurate, non-sensitive treatment of the musk note: today essentially always synthetic or plant-based, never animal-derived. burner_types_guide covers mabkhara and majmar incense-burner types, materials and regional styles. occasion_guide covers when bakhoor/incense is traditionally used — welcoming guests, weddings (cross-referencing the Zafaf connector for the wedding traditions themselves), Eid, and everyday use. oud_family_glossary defines about a dozen terms, clearly split between the instrument sense and the fragrance sense of "oud". care_and_etiquette_guide covers general oud-instrument care basics and incense-offering etiquette as a guest. search runs a free-text query across every entry. Keyless; fully local; zero upstream calls; nothing stored. Every entry disambiguates oud the instrument from oud/agarwood the fragrance material — two unrelated things that share one transliteration.
Sources: Hand-curated from general, widely-documented organological, cultural and craft-reference knowledge of the oud instrument and traditional Arab incense/perfume practice; fully local, zero upstream calls

Uud is a hand-curated, fully local reference that answers questions about both, and is careful to say clearly, every time, which one it means.
The oud instrument's construction, parts (bowl body, soundboard, pegbox, strings), typical string count and
tuning approaches, as a factual instrument reference (instrument_info); what bakhoor incense is and how it
is traditionally burned over charcoal in a mabkhara or majmar, with hospitality customs (bakhoor_guide);
agarwood/oud as a fragrance material — what it is, its forms, origin regions and grading terminology, with
no pricing and no medicinal claims (agarwood_oud_info); traditional non-alcohol perfume-oil (attar)
culture and its common note families, including an accurate treatment of the musk note — today essentially
always synthetic or plant-based, not animal-derived (attar_perfume_guide); mabkhara and majmar
incense-burner types, materials and regional styles (burner_types_guide); when bakhoor/incense is
traditionally used — welcoming guests, weddings, Eid, or everyday use (occasion_guide); about a dozen
glossary terms clearly split between the instrument sense and the fragrance sense of "oud"
(oud_family_glossary); general oud-instrument care basics and incense-offering etiquette as a guest
(care_and_etiquette_guide); and a free-text search across every entry (search).
Not a retailer, appraiser, marketplace or health resource. Uud never states a price, and it makes no medicinal, therapeutic or health claims about agarwood or any other material it describes — agarwood/oud is covered strictly as a fragrance material and historical trade good. It also does not duplicate maqam theory or playing theory, which the Nagham (Melody) connector already covers in depth for the oud instrument and the broader instrument family; nor does it cover Arab wedding traditions themselves, which the Zafaf (Wedding) connector covers — Uud only covers the incense/fragrance dimension of those celebrations. Fully local and keyless: nothing is fetched from any upstream source and nothing about a query is stored.
instrument_info — The oud (instrument)'s construction, parts (bowl body, soundboard, pegbox, strings), typical string count and tuning approaches — a factual instrument reference. Not to be confused with oud/agarwood, the fragrance material (see agarwood_oud_info). For maqam theory and playing theory, see the Nagham connector. Use for "what are the parts of an oud", "how many strings does an oud have", "how is an oud tuned".
bakhoor_guide — What bakhoor incense is, how it is traditionally burned (over charcoal in a mabkhara or majmar), and the hospitality and occasion customs around it. Use for "what is bakhoor", "how do you burn bakhoor", "why do people burn incense for guests".
burner_types_guide — Mabkhara and majmar incense-burner types, materials and regional styles (wood, ceramic, metal, electric, and Maghrebi-style burners). Use for "what's a mabkhara", "what's the difference between a mabkhara and a majmar", "what are incense burners made of". Args: burner.
agarwood_oud_info — Agarwood/oud as a fragrance material — what it is, its forms (chips and oil), origin regions, and grading terminology. No pricing, no medicinal or therapeutic claims. Not to be confused with the oud musical instrument (see instrument_info). Use for "what is agarwood", "where does oud oil come from", "what does oud grading mean".
attar_perfume_guide — Traditional non-alcohol perfume-oil (attar) culture and its common traditional note families — rose, oud, amber and musk-type notes — including an accurate note that traditional "musk" today is essentially always synthetic or plant-based, not animal-derived. Use for "what is attar", "is musk in perfume from an animal", "what notes are used in traditional Arab perfume".
occasion_guide — When bakhoor/incense is traditionally used for a given occasion — welcoming guests, weddings (see the Zafaf connector for the wedding traditions themselves), Eid, or everyday use. Use for "when do people burn incense for guests", "is incense used at weddings", "do people burn bakhoor for Eid". Args: occasion.
care_and_etiquette_guide — General oud-instrument care basics (storage, cleaning, strings, tuning pegs) and incense-offering etiquette for a guest. Use for "how do I take care of an oud", "what do I do if a host offers me incense".
oud_family_glossary — Definitions of about a dozen core terms, clearly split between the oud instrument's vocabulary (risha, pegbox, course) and the oud/agarwood fragrance vocabulary (bakhoor, mabkhara, dahn al-oud). Use for "what does dahn al-oud mean", "what's a risha", "what's the difference between oud the instrument and oud the fragrance". Args: term.
search — Search across every reference entry — the instrument, bakhoor, agarwood/oud fragrance, attar, burner types, occasions, glossary terms and care/etiquette guidance. Use for a broad query that does not map cleanly onto one specific tool, e.g. "musk", "hospitality", "Gulf incense burner". Args: query.
ok: true with data, or ok: false with a structured error (bad_input, not_found, upstream_error). degraded lists optional sources that were unreachable.Retry-After. initialize and tools/list are never counted.agent@connectorbay.com · connectorbay.com/uud/support

What Uud is. Uud (Oud & Incense) is a connector (an MCP server and REST API) that AI assistants and personal agents call on your behalf for a hand-curated, fully local reference on the oud musical instrument and traditional Arab incense/perfume culture: bakhoor, agarwood/oud oil, attar, and mabkhara/majmar incense burners. You interact with your assistant; the assistant sends us only the arguments needed for that one lookup.
What we receive. The arguments of each tool call — a burner type, an occasion, a glossary term, or a search query — the technical headers needed to serve the request (an IP address or a client identifier supplied by the assistant, and a Pro API key if you have one), and standard server logs.
Everything is answered from bundled, hand-curated reference files and nothing is stored. No request is forwarded to any third party — there is no upstream call at all, live or otherwise — and no query is logged in request bodies, recorded, or used to train anything.
What we do not receive or store. We do not receive your conversation with the assistant or your name, and we do not build a profile from your queries: each request is answered independently and nothing carries over between requests. Rate-limit counters (a client identifier and timestamps) are held in memory for at most 24 hours. Hosting-provider access logs, which contain IP addresses and request paths but not request bodies, are retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention.
Sub-processors. None — the entire dataset is bundled with the server and answered locally. Hosting: Vercel (United States regions).
Legal bases and your rights. Our processing is necessary to provide the service you request through your assistant. Because we store no personal data beyond short-lived logs, requests to access, correct or delete personal data are usually satisfied automatically; you can still contact agent@connectorbay.com and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information and do not use your data to train models.
Children. Uud is a general-audience service operated by the adult using the assistant.
Changes. We will post changes here with a new effective date.
