slang_lookuptranslate_hintrandom_slangslang_by_categoryphrase_of_the_dayformality_checkregional_noteslang_searchglossary_statsBol ("speak") is a hand-curated Hindi/Hinglish slang and everyday-phrase glossary. slang_lookup gives one term's definition, literal-vs-actual meaning, an example sentence in Hindi/Hinglish with an English translation, and a formality note; slang_search does a keyword search across terms, definitions and examples. random_slang returns a random term, optionally filtered by category; slang_by_category lists every term in one category. phrase_of_the_day returns a deterministic pick for today's date with a full explanation. translate_hint does a best-effort keyword match from a common English phrase or idiom to its closest Hinglish/Hindi slang equivalent. formality_check flags whether a term is casual-only, broadly fine, or a bit rude depending on audience; regional_note gives a term's region and generation skew, when known. glossary_stats gives term counts by category. Keyless; fully local; family-friendly (no profanity or slurs).
Sources: Hand-written by the publisher for accuracy, not scraped from any single source; fully local, zero upstream calls

Definitions for 100+ hand-picked, genuinely common Hindi/Hinglish slang terms and everyday phrases — literal
meaning vs. actual meaning, an example sentence in Hindi/Hinglish with an English translation, and a category
(slang_lookup); a keyword search across every term, definition and example (slang_search); a random term,
optionally filtered by category (random_slang); every term in one category, from greetings and exclamations to
mild insults, praise, money talk, food-related phrases, and Bollywood-derived lines (slang_by_category); a
deterministic phrase of the day, the same for everyone on a given date (phrase_of_the_day); a best-effort match
from a common English phrase or idiom (like "no big deal" or "stop worrying") to its closest Hinglish equivalent
in this dataset (translate_hint); a formality/register flag — casual-only, broadly fine, or a bit rude
depending on audience (formality_check); a regional or generational note where one is known (regional_note);
and term counts by category (glossary_stats).
Not a live dictionary, a machine-translation API, or an academic linguistics resource — Bol is a hand-written glossary, and language like this moves fast: usage shifts by region, by generation, and by who's in the room. Every entry is a starting point for understanding, not a rulebook, and the dataset is deliberately kept to mild, family-friendly slang — no profanity, no slurs, nothing that would be awkward to show a class of students. For anything beyond casual conversation — legal, medical, or official translation — use a professional service, not a slang glossary.
slang_lookup — One term's definition: literal meaning vs. actual meaning, an example sentence in Hindi/Hinglish with an English translation, its category, and a formality/register note. Use for "what does jugaad mean", "what's the actual meaning of chalta hai". Args: term.
slang_search — Keyword search across every term's name, definitions, and example sentences. Use for "find slang about money", "any phrases with 'tension' in them". Args: query.
translate_hint — Best-effort match from a common English casual phrase or idiom to its closest Hinglish/Hindi slang equivalent(s) in this dataset — a simple keyword/synonym match against hand-written mappings, not a live translation API. Use for "how do I say 'no big deal' in Hinglish", "what's the Hindi slang for 'stop worrying'". Args: english_phrase.
random_slang — A random slang term or everyday phrase, optionally restricted to one category. Use for "give me a random Hindi slang word", "surprise me with a food-related phrase". Args: category, seed.
slang_by_category — Every term in one category. Use for "list all the exclamations", "show me all money-related slang". Args: category.
phrase_of_the_day — Today's phrase of the day — a deterministic pick (seeded by today's date, so it's the same for everyone and stable across calls today) with a full explanation. Use for "what's today's Hindi phrase of the day".
glossary_stats — Term counts by category and the total term count in this dataset. Use for "how many slang terms do you know", "how many categories are there".
formality_check — Whether a term is casual-only (friends/family), broadly acceptable anywhere, or could be seen as a bit rude or pointed depending on audience — this dataset is kept to mild, family-friendly slang throughout, never actual profanity. Use for "is 'yaar' okay to use with my boss", "is 'ghanta' rude". Args: term.
regional_note — Where relevant, whether a term skews to a specific region/city or generation — many entries are simply pan-India and used by all generations. Use for "is 'jhakaas' a Mumbai thing", "who uses 'dhasu'". Args: term.
ok: true with data, or ok: false with a structured error (bad_input, not_found, upstream_error). degraded lists optional sources that were unreachable.Retry-After. initialize and tools/list are never counted.agent@connectorbay.com · connectorbay.com/bol/support

What Bol is. Bol is a connector (an MCP server and REST API) that AI assistants and personal agents call on your behalf for a hand-curated Hindi/Hinglish slang and everyday-phrase glossary. You interact with your assistant; the assistant sends us only the arguments needed for that one lookup.
What we receive. The arguments of each tool call — a slang term, a search keyword, a category, or an English
phrase for translate_hint — the technical headers needed to serve the request (an IP address or a client
identifier supplied by the assistant, and a Pro API key if you have one), and standard server logs.
Everything is answered from a bundled, hand-curated dataset and nothing is stored. No request is forwarded to any third party — there is no upstream call at all, live or otherwise — and no query is logged in request bodies, recorded, or used to train anything.
What we do not receive or store. We do not receive your conversation with the assistant or your name, and we do not build a profile from your queries: each request is answered independently and nothing carries over between requests. Rate-limit counters (a client identifier and timestamps) are held in memory for at most 24 hours. Hosting-provider access logs, which contain IP addresses and request paths but not request bodies, are retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention.
Sub-processors. None — the entire dataset is bundled with the server and answered locally. Hosting: Vercel (United States regions).
Legal bases and your rights. Our processing is necessary to provide the service you request through your assistant. Because we store no personal data beyond short-lived logs, requests to access, correct or delete personal data are usually satisfied automatically; you can still contact agent@connectorbay.com and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information and do not use your data to train models.
Children. Bol's dataset is kept family-friendly (mild slang and everyday phrases only, no profanity), but the service itself is a general-audience tool operated by the adult using the assistant.
Changes. We will post changes here with a new effective date.
