What Zendesk Talk (BYOK) is for

Zendesk Talk (BYOK) lets an AI assistant read your own Zendesk Talk data through the Zendesk Talk API with a key you supply (agent email address followed by /token, for example you@example.com/token). Read-only: 10 tools (get_current_queue_activity, get_account_overview, get_agents_overview, list_agents_activity, list_phone_numbers, get_phone_number, list_ivrs, get_ivr, list_greetings, list_greeting_categories). The BYOK key travels with each request, is used for that one call only and is never stored, logged or cached; it is only ever sent to *.zendesk.com. Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Zendesk Talk. Zendesk Talk and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "How many calls are waiting in Zendesk Talk right now?"
  • "How did Zendesk Talk do today?"
  • "How busy were Zendesk Talk agents today?"
  • "Which Zendesk Talk agents took the most calls today?"
  • "Which phone numbers are set up in Zendesk Talk?"
  • "Is call recording on for Zendesk Talk line 900000120986?"

What it does

  • get_current_queue_activity: Get the live call queue: agents online, calls and callbacks waiting, average and longest wait time.
  • get_account_overview: Get today's call statistics for the account (since midnight in the account time zone): totals for calls, inbound, outbound, voicemails, abandoned calls and average durations in seconds.
  • get_agents_overview: Get today's team-level agent statistics: calls accepted, denied, missed, held and transferred, talk, hold and wrap-up time, with totals and averages in seconds.
  • list_agents_activity: List each agent's call activity for today: online and available time, calls accepted, denied and missed, talk and wrap-up time. Forwarding numbers are not returned.
  • list_phone_numbers: List the Talk phone lines of the account with nickname, location, capabilities, recording and outbound settings, IVR and groups. Not available on trial accounts.
  • get_phone_number: Get one Talk phone line by id with nickname, location, capabilities, recording and outbound settings, IVR and groups.
  • list_ivrs: List IVR menus with name, linked phone lines, SIP lines and the menu routes (keypress, action, option text).
  • get_ivr: Get one IVR with its menus, greetings and routes.
  • list_greetings: List voicemail and availability greetings with name, category, active and system-default flags (audio files are not downloaded).
  • list_greeting_categories: List the greeting categories (such as voicemail and available) that greetings are assigned to.

BYOK key

You bring your own Zendesk Talk agent email address followed by /token, for example you@example.com/token (https://support.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/4408889192858-Generating-a-new-API-token). Your assistant sends it in the X-Upstream-Key header with each request. ConnectorBay uses it for that one call only: it is never stored, logged or cached, never shown in an answer, and it is only sent to *.zendesk.com over https, with no redirects followed. Create a key with the fewest permissions the tools need (read-only if the provider offers it), and revoke it at the provider whenever you like.

Data sources

Live from the Zendesk Talk API (*.zendesk.com) with a BYOK key; documentation: https://developer.zendesk.com/api-reference/voice/talk-api/introduction/. Endpoints checked against that documentation on 2026-10-16.

What it is not

Unofficial connector by Unify Dynamics LLC: not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Zendesk Talk. Zendesk Talk and its logos are trademarks of their owners and are used only to say which service the connector works with. It is read-only: it never creates, changes, sends or deletes anything in your Zendesk Talk account.
