What Canada Tender Radar is for

Canada Tender Radar reads the public CanadaBuys open-data CSV files (Public Services and Procurement Canada, Open Government Licence - Canada) so a small business or its agent can run a weekly tender check. new_tenders_since lists federal notices published since a date, search_open_tenders filters the open notices by keyword, UNSPSC or GSIN code, region, category and closing window, and closing_soon lists what closes in the next N days. tender_details returns every published field of one notice (contact-person columns are left out) and award_history_lookup searches a fiscal year's award notices for a business name, category or contracting entity. tender_columns shows the live column names of a file and how they map, with a link to the official data dictionary. Columns are resolved from the file header, streamed within a size and time budget, and cached for 30 minutes. Federal tenders only: provincial, municipal and MERX or BC Bid notices are not covered. Tender text is informational; every answer names the file, its refresh date and the caveats, and the official notice on CanadaBuys is the authority for eligibility, amendments and the exact closing time. Read-only: nothing is submitted, saved or bid.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "Which new federal tenders for snow removal or grounds maintenance were published since Monday?"
  • "Which open federal tenders for laptops deliver to British Columbia and close after October 1?"
  • "Which tenders matching my UNSPSC codes close in the next 7 days?"
  • "Give me the published details of federal tender notice TEST-0001."
  • "Has this cleaning company won federal contracts this fiscal year, and for how much?"

What it does

  • tender_details: Return every published field of one tender notice (contact-person columns left out), looked up by reference number.
  • award_history_lookup: Search a fiscal year's CanadaBuys award notices for a business name, category or contracting entity.
  • tender_columns: Show the actual columns of a CanadaBuys file, how each maps to this connector's fields, and where the official data dictionary is.

Data sources

Reference data from official sources (canadabuys.canada.ca, donnees-data.tpsgc-pwgsc.gc.ca, open.canada.ca); every answer states its source, date and validity period.

What it is not

Canada Tender Radar is independent; not affiliated with, endorsed by or operated by any government body, central bank, standards body or scheme operator. Names of rails, schemes and standards are used only to say what a tool works with. It is read-only: it never sends, pays, files or signs anything for you, and it never looks up private individuals.

Not advice. General information only, not legal, tax, accounting or payment advice. Canada Tender Radar is an independent tool: it is not affiliated with, endorsed by or operated by any government body, central bank, standards body or scheme operator. Rates, thresholds and rules change; check the cited official source and confirm with a qualified professional before you rely on a result.

Conventions

  • Read-only. Every tool reads public data or computes; nothing is written anywhere and nothing about the user is stored.
  • Result envelope. ok: true with data, or ok: false with a structured error (bad_input, not_found, upstream_error). degraded lists optional sources that were unreachable.
  • Rate limits. Free tier 60 tool calls/minute and 300/day per user (keyed on the user identifier supplied by the host agent, else client IP); Pro keys raise this. Over-limit calls return HTTP 429 with Retry-After. initialize and tools/list are never counted.

Answer size (detail)

new_tenders_since, search_open_tenders and closing_soon answer with detail=summary by default: compact notice rows (reference number, title, status, dates, days left, category, regions, contracting entity, link, matched terms), at most 12 of them, about 10 KB. detail=full returns up to limit complete rows with description excerpts and trade agreements, the same answer as before wave 19: about 55 KB at 50 notices (new_tenders_since) and about 30 KB at 25 (search_open_tenders, closing_soon). The summary says how many of the matching notices it shows.
