About

Chronicle puts history and reference behind one connector. On this day from Wikipedia (byabbe.se as fallback): events, births, deaths and holidays for any date, filterable by year or range, each with linked articles. Today in history for a place's local date with 25/50/100-year milestones. Exactly N years ago on a date. A year's events month by month parsed from the Wikipedia year page. Wikipedia summaries of any topic or person with birth/death years and coordinates, falling back to search; Wikipedia search with snippets. Quote of the day or a random quote. Keyless; nothing stored; every text linked to its article.

What Chronicle is for

History and reference questions answered from Wikipedia with links: what happened on a date, who was born or died on it, which anniversaries fall today, what happened exactly fifty or a hundred years ago, the events of a year month by month, and a reliable summary of any topic or person.

What it does

On this day (Wikipedia's feed; byabbe.se as fallback): events, births, deaths, holidays and Wikipedia's selected highlights for any month/day, filterable by a year or a range, newest first, each with linked articles. Today in history for a time zone's local date: selected events, milestone anniversaries (25, 50, 75, 100, 150, 200… years ago), notable births and deaths, holidays. "N years ago" on today's or any date. A year's events month by month parsed from the Wikipedia year page (BC years supported). Wikipedia summaries with description, lead paragraph, image, coordinates and — for people — birth and death years, with search fallback and disambiguation notice; Wikipedia search with snippets. A quote of the day or a random quote.

What it is not

Chronicle is not a news search and not an encyclopaedia of its own: texts are Wikipedia's (CC BY-SA), so quote them with attribution and follow the links for detail. Wikipedia's on-this-day lists are editor-curated and English-Wikipedia-centric.

Tools

On this day

on_this_day — Notable events, births, deaths or holidays on a calendar date, from Wikipedia — each with year, text and linked articles; filter by year or range. Use for "what happened on 15 August", "who was born on 2 October", "events on 9 November in the 20th century", "holidays on 1 May". Args: month, day, kind, year, year_from, year_to, max_results.

today_in_history — Today's date in history: Wikipedia's selected events, round-number anniversaries (25/50/75/100… years ago today), notable births and deaths, and holidays. Use for "today in history", "anniversaries today", "any famous birthdays today". Args: timezone_name, max_results.

years_ago — What happened exactly N years ago on a date (default today): events, births and deaths from that year. Use for "what happened 50 years ago today", "100 years ago on 4 July". Args: years, month, day, timezone_name.

year_events — The events of a year, month by month, from the Wikipedia year page — dated bullet points with the people and places involved. Use for "what happened in 1969", "events of March 1947", "the year 1066". Args: year, month, max_results.

Wikipedia

wiki_summary — A Wikipedia summary: the lead paragraph, short description, image, link — plus birth/death years for people and coordinates for places. Falls back to search when the exact title is not found. Use for "who was Ada Lovelace", "what is the French Revolution", "tell me about Hampi". Args: topic.

wiki_search — Search Wikipedia article titles and text: title, snippet, article size and link. Use to find the right article before wiki_summary, or for "Wikipedia articles about X". Args: query, max_results.

Daily

quote — Quote of the day, or a random quotation, with its author (ZenQuotes). Use for "quote of the day", "give me an inspiring quote". Args: kind.

Conventions

  • Read-only. Every tool reads public data or computes; nothing is written anywhere and nothing about the user is stored.
  • Result envelope. ok: true with data, or ok: false with a structured error (bad_input, not_found, upstream_error). degraded lists optional sources that were unreachable.
  • Rate limits. Free tier 60 tool calls/minute and 300/day per user (keyed on the user identifier supplied by the host agent, else client IP); Pro keys raise this. Over-limit calls return HTTP 429 with Retry-After. initialize and tools/list are never counted.

Chronicle — Privacy Policy

Effective 23 September 2026. Unify Dynamics LLC ("we", "us"), Menlo Park, California.

What Chronicle is. Chronicle is a connector (an MCP server and REST API) that AI assistants and personal agents call on your behalf for history and reference: on-this-day lists, anniversaries, a year's events, Wikipedia summaries and search, and quotes. You interact with your assistant; the assistant sends us only the date, year, topic or search words needed for the lookup.

What we receive. The arguments of each tool call (a month and day, a year, a topic, search words, a time-zone name), the technical headers needed to serve the request (an IP address or a client identifier supplied by the assistant, and a Pro API key if you have one), and standard server logs.

Lookups are forwarded, not stored. Topics and search words are passed to Wikipedia (Wikimedia Foundation) and the answer is returned to your assistant. We do not record what you ask about or build a profile. Nothing you send is stored, logged in request bodies or used to train anything. Successful upstream answers are cached in memory for one hour (search, quote of the day) to one day (on-this-day lists, summaries), keyed by the query.

What we do not receive or store. We do not receive your conversation with the assistant, your name, contacts or any account credentials. Rate-limit counters (a client identifier and timestamps) are held in memory for at most 24 hours. Hosting-provider access logs, which contain IP addresses and request paths but not request bodies, are retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention.

Sub-processors. Wikimedia Foundation (en.wikipedia.org REST and action APIs), byabbe.se (on-this-day fallback) and ZenQuotes (zenquotes.io). Each receives the query and our server's IP address, never yours. Hosting: Vercel (United States regions).

Legal bases and your rights. For users in California, the EU/UK and elsewhere, our processing is necessary to provide the service you request through your assistant. Because we store no personal data beyond short-lived logs, requests to access, correct or delete personal data are usually satisfied automatically; you can still contact agent@connectorbay.com and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information and do not use your data to train models.

Children. Chronicle is a general-audience service operated by the adult using the assistant; historical content can describe violence.

Changes. We will post changes here with a new effective date.

Terms of service

Chronicle — Terms of Service

Effective 23 September 2026. These terms govern use of the Chronicle connector ("the Service") operated by Unify Dynamics LLC ("we", "us").

  1. The Service. Chronicle returns history and reference information — on-this-day lists, anniversaries, a year's events, Wikipedia summaries and search results, and quotations — from public sources. It is accessed through an AI assistant or directly over MCP or HTTP.
  2. Sources and licences. Wikipedia text is licensed CC BY-SA 4.0 (attribute Wikipedia and share adaptations alike); byabbe.se data is Wikipedia-derived; quotations from ZenQuotes.io under its terms (attribution required). Images belong to their rights holders as noted on Wikimedia Commons.
  3. Accuracy. Wikipedia is editor-maintained and can be incomplete or contested; verify important facts against the linked articles and their sources.
  4. Acceptable use. Do not use the Service to bulk-scrape the sources or to circumvent rate limits. Automated use within the published limits is welcome.
  5. Availability. The Service is provided "as is" without warranty. We may change, limit or discontinue it at any time.
  6. Data. Our Privacy Policy describes what we process. In short: your query is forwarded and nothing is stored.
  7. Attribution. Wikipedia (Wikimedia Foundation); byabbe.se; ZenQuotes.io.
  8. Pro keys. Optional Pro API keys are issued at our discretion, are personal to the holder and may be revoked for abuse.
  9. Liability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Unify Dynamics LLC is not liable for any loss arising from use of or reliance on the Service. Our total liability is limited to US $100.
  10. Governing law. California law; venue in San Mateo County, California.
