Real questions, and the tools your agent calls to answer them.
federal_registerfederal_register_documentexecutive_orderspublic_inspectionbillsenate_votessenate_votehouse_votesfederal_awardsagency_budgetswho_representsCivic reads the U.S. federal government's own records and quotes them. Federal Register: search final and proposed rules, notices and presidential documents by words, agency, type and date — with the action, effective and comment-close dates, CFR parts and the regulations.gov link — read one document in full, list executive orders, and see what is on public inspection today. Congress: any bill by number from GovInfo (title, sponsor, latest action, CRS summary, committees, recorded votes, text versions, public-law number), the Senate's and House's roll-call votes this session, and any single vote with the tally by party and every member's position or just yours. Money: USAspending awards — contracts, grants, loans — by keyword, recipient, agency, state and fiscal year; every agency's budget authority, obligations and outlays; a state's federal totals per capita. People: an address to its congressional district and its two senators and representative with office phone, website and contact form; members by state, district, chamber or name. No opinions, no scorecards, no key required, nothing stored.
Sources: Federal Register API, GovInfo BILLSTATUS bulk data, senate.gov LIS and clerk.house.gov roll-call XML, USAspending API, Census Bureau geocoder, unitedstates/congress-legislators (bundled)

https://civic.connectorbay.com/mcpPOST https://civic.connectorbay.com/v1/tools/{tool_name}, described by the OpenAPI 3.1 spec at https://civic.connectorbay.com/openapi.jsonAuthorization: Bearer <key> raises rate limits.https://civic.connectorbay.com/health · Tool schemas: https://civic.connectorbay.com/tools.json"What did the government do today?" has a documentary answer: the Federal Register printed it, Congress voted on it, GovInfo holds the bill, USAspending recorded the money, and the Clerk and the Secretary of the Senate published every roll call. Civic reads those records directly — no news summary in between — and returns titles, action text, tallies and dollar figures verbatim with links.
Regulation: search rules, proposed rules and notices by words, agency, type and date, with the comment deadline and the regulations.gov link; a single document in detail; executive orders; the public-inspection desk (tomorrow's issue, today). Congress: any bill's status from GovInfo's BILLSTATUS data — sponsor, latest action, CRS summary, recorded votes, text versions, public-law number; the Senate's and House's roll calls this session and any single vote with the tally by party and every member's position. Money: awards by keyword, recipient, agency, state and fiscal year; every agency's budget authority, obligations and outlays; a state's federal totals per capita. People: an address to its district (Census geocoder) to its two senators and representative, with office contacts.
Civic is not a scorecard and offers no opinion: it does not rate bills, members or agencies, and it does not summarise a bill in its own words — it quotes the CRS summary. Bills reach GovInfo a day or two after introduction; public-inspection documents can change before publication; USAspending figures are as agencies report them. The Congress.gov API needs a key and is not used; everything here is keyless.

What Civic is. Civic is a connector (an MCP server and REST API) that AI assistants and personal agents call on your behalf for U.S. federal records: Federal Register documents, bills, roll-call votes, federal spending and members of Congress. You interact with your assistant; the assistant sends us only the specific request needed: a search term, a bill number, a vote number, a recipient name — or, for who_represents, a street address.
What we receive. The arguments of each tool call, the technical headers needed to serve the request (an IP address or a client identifier supplied by the assistant, and a Pro API key if you have one), and standard server logs.
Addresses. The who_represents tool sends the address you give to the U.S. Census Bureau's public geocoder to find the congressional district, and nothing else. We do not store the address, do not cache the result, and do not link it to anything. Use a nearby cross-street or ZIP-level address if you prefer not to share a home address.
What we do not receive or store. We do not receive your conversation with the assistant, your name, contacts, or credentials for any service. Request arguments are used to fetch the answer in memory and are not stored; we keep no record of what anyone looks up. Rate-limit counters (a client identifier and timestamps) are held in memory for at most 24 hours. Hosting-provider access logs, which contain IP addresses and request paths but not request bodies, are retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention.
Political views are sensitive; nothing here infers them. Looking up a bill or a vote says nothing about a person's views and we do not treat it as if it did: no profile, no sharing, no sale, no training on it.
Sub-processors. To answer requests we send only the search term, document, bill or vote identifier, recipient/agency name, or address asked about (never anything about you) to the Federal Register API, GovInfo, senate.gov, clerk.house.gov, USAspending.gov and the Census Bureau geocoder — all U.S. government services. Hosting: Vercel (United States regions).
Legal bases and your rights. For users in California, the EU/UK and elsewhere, our processing is necessary to provide the service you request through your assistant. Because we store no personal data beyond short-lived logs, requests to access, correct or delete personal data are usually satisfied automatically; you can still contact agent@connectorbay.com and we will respond within 30 days.
Children. Civic is a general-audience service operated by the adult using the assistant.
Changes. We will post changes here with a new effective date.
