Real questions, and the tools your agent calls to answer them.
new_gamenew_gamenew_gamecheck_answerget_hintrenderlist_categoriesCrossword Build generates small, original crossword puzzles. new_game lays out a symmetric (180-degree rotational) black-square pattern via a randomized constraint-driven construction — every candidate placement is accepted only if the whole grid still satisfies the standard crossword invariant (every white run is empty or at least 3 cells) and stays fully connected — then fills every numbered slot with a real word via a backtracking constraint-satisfaction search using minimum-remaining-values ordering and forward checking, so every across/down intersection is guaranteed to agree on its shared letter by construction. Clues come from a hand-written, original clue bank (never scraped from any copyrighted crossword); an optional theme restricts which hand-clued words can appear; an optional caller-supplied word_list is tried first for every slot, with a large public-domain dictionary of common words filling in whichever slots the caller's own list can't cover, and each slot's state clearly says whether its answer is from the caller's list, the bank, or filler. check_answer grades a submitted grid-fill against the solution slot by slot. get_hint gives one slot's clue, length, and first letter. render draws the numbered blank grid and clue lists, or the filled solution on request. list_categories lists the available themes. Fully stateless: the caller holds and passes the puzzle state (including the solution) between calls, the same trust model as any stateless puzzle API. Keyless; fully local; zero upstream calls; nothing stored.
Sources: Clue bank is hand-written and original. Filler word pool is drawn from the public-domain ENABLE word list (Enhanced North American Benchmark Lexicon), frequency-filtered for common words. Fully local, zero upstream calls.
The publisher, Unify Dynamics LLC, states that tool inputs are processed in memory and not retained.

A real, original crossword generator: an actual constraint-based grid layout and word-fill algorithm builds
a small crossword (5x5 to 9x9) from scratch every time, from a hand-written original clue bank (or your own
word list), with a genuine check_answer grader. Fully local — no scraping, no upstream calls.
new_game lays out a symmetric (180-degree rotational) black-square pattern via a randomized
constraint-driven construction — every candidate placement is accepted only if the whole grid still
satisfies the standard crossword invariant (every run of open cells is empty or at least 3 cells long) and
stays fully connected — then fills every numbered slot with a real word via a backtracking
constraint-satisfaction search (most-constrained-slot ordering, forward checking), so every across/down
intersection is guaranteed to agree on its shared letter by construction. An optional theme restricts the
hand-clued word bank to one category; an optional word_list uses your own words first, with common
dictionary words filling in whatever your list can't cover on its own. check_answer grades a submitted
fill against the solution, slot by slot. get_hint gives one slot's clue, length, and first letter.
render draws the numbered blank grid and clue lists, or the filled-in solution on request.
list_categories lists the available themes.
This connector keeps no server-side session. new_game returns a state object — which includes the
solution, so don't show it to the player directly, only its rendering — and every other tool takes that
state (or the one returned by the previous call) back in. The calling assistant is responsible for holding
onto it between turns and is trusted not to peek at the solution before the player has solved it, the same
trust model as any other stateless puzzle API.
Not connected to any account, leaderboard, or third-party crossword service — the clue bank is hand-written and original (never scraped from any copyrighted crossword), the filler word pool is a bundled public-domain word list, and nothing about a puzzle in progress is stored once the response is sent.

What Crossword Build is. Crossword Build is a connector (an MCP server and REST API) that AI assistants and personal agents call on your behalf to generate and grade a local crossword puzzle. Each tool call receives the current puzzle state (or generation parameters, such as a size, theme, or word list) and returns a result — there is no account, login, or save file.
What we receive. The arguments of each tool call — a grid size, an optional theme or your own word list, a puzzle state object (the layout, clues, and solution), or a submitted grid fill — plus the technical headers needed to serve the request (an IP address or a client identifier supplied by the assistant, and a Pro API key if you have one), and standard server logs.
Everything is answered from bundled data and nothing is stored. No request is forwarded to any third party — there is no upstream call at all — and no puzzle state, custom word list, or submitted fill is logged in request bodies, recorded, or used to train anything. Each request is answered independently; the data you send us is used only to compute that one response and is discarded immediately after.
What we do not receive or store. We do not receive your name, an account identifier, or any persistent player profile — there is none. Rate-limit counters (a client identifier and timestamps) are held in memory for at most 24 hours. Hosting-provider access logs, which contain IP addresses and request paths but not request bodies, are retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention.
Sub-processors. None — the clue bank and dictionary are bundled with the server and answered locally. Hosting: Vercel (United States regions).
Legal bases and your rights. Our processing is necessary to provide the service you request through your assistant. Because we store no personal data beyond short-lived logs, requests to access, correct or delete personal data are usually satisfied automatically; you can still contact agent@connectorbay.com and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information and do not use your data to train models.
Children. Crossword Build is a general-audience puzzle game operated by the adult using the assistant.
