What Econ is for

Economic and social statistics from the institutions that publish them, with the numbers, the years and the source attached: how fast an economy is growing, what inflation and unemployment are, which countries rank highest or lowest on a measure, how countries compare, what the EU's official monthly and quarterly figures say, and where to find the open dataset behind a question.

What it does

IMF World Economic Outlook (190+ economies, 1980 to projections): a country snapshot (GDP growth, inflation, unemployment, GDP in USD and per capita in USD and PPP, government debt and balance, current account, population); any WEO indicator for several countries over a year range; rankings (highest or lowest, with a population floor to exclude micro-states); side-by-side comparisons for a year. World Bank World Development Indicators: 400+ measures by name or code — life expectancy, internet users, CO2, poverty, Gini, literacy, fertility, trade, FDI, military spending and more — with suggestions when a name does not match. Eurostat: seasonally adjusted unemployment and youth unemployment, HICP and core inflation, GDP growth (year-on-year and quarter-on-quarter), house prices, population, government debt, minimum wages and household electricity prices for EU/EEA countries, the euro area and the EU, with provisional/estimate flags. Open data: search data.gov.uk and data.europa.eu and fetch a data.gov.uk dataset's resources. U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics: unemployment, CPI (with year-on-year inflation computed), nonfarm payrolls, earnings, participation, job openings, PPI, productivity.

What it is not

Projections are the IMF's, not forecasts by us; values for the current year and beyond are flagged. Series definitions differ between sources (IMF average CPI vs Eurostat HICP vs BLS CPI-U), so compare like with like. The U.S. Census API now requires a key and is not included; BLS's keyless quota is 25 requests a day per server IP (an operator key raises it to 500). Econ gives statistics, not investment advice.

Tools

IMF

country_snapshot — A country's macro picture from the IMF WEO: real GDP growth, inflation, unemployment, GDP (USD bn), GDP per capita (USD and PPP), government debt and balance (% GDP), current account (% GDP), population — for recent years and projections. Use for "how is Brazil's economy doing", "India GDP growth and inflation", "Japan's debt". Args: country, year_from, year_to.

imf_indicator — One IMF WEO indicator for several countries over a year range (default recent years plus two projected). Use for "inflation in Turkey vs Argentina since 2020", "GDP growth of the BRICS", "unemployment in Spain and Greece". Args: indicator, countries, year_from, year_to.

imf_ranking — Rank the world's economies on an IMF indicator for a year — highest or lowest — optionally only countries above a population size. Use for "richest countries per capita", "fastest-growing economies in 2026", "which countries have the highest inflation", "most indebted governments". Args: indicator, year, top, lowest, min_population_m.

compare_countries — Side-by-side IMF snapshot of several countries for one year: GDP, GDP per capita, growth, inflation, unemployment, debt, current account, population. Use for "compare India and China", "Nordic economies side by side". Args: countries, year.

World Bank & Eurostat

world_bank — A World Bank development indicator for countries over recent years — health, education, environment, technology, poverty, trade and more (400+ named indicators; codes accepted). Use for "life expectancy in Nigeria over time", "internet penetration in India vs Brazil", "CO2 per capita in Qatar". Args: indicator, countries, years.

eurostat — Official EU statistics from Eurostat for countries, the euro area or the EU: monthly unemployment and HICP inflation, quarterly GDP growth and house prices, annual population and government debt, minimum wages, household electricity prices. Use for "euro area inflation", "Spain youth unemployment", "German house prices", "minimum wage in Poland". Args: indicator, countries, periods.

Open data & BLS

datasets_search — Find open government datasets on data.gov.uk or the EU open-data portal: title, publisher, description, formats, last update and link. Use for "UK datasets on air quality", "EU open data on renewable energy". Args: query, portal, max_results.

dataset — Details of a data.gov.uk dataset: description, publisher, licence, tags and downloadable resources with formats and URLs. Use after datasets_search. Args: dataset_id.

us_labor_stats — U.S. labour and price statistics from the Bureau of Labor Statistics: monthly unemployment rate, CPI (with year-on-year inflation computed), nonfarm payrolls, hourly and weekly earnings, participation, job openings, PPI, productivity. Use for "US unemployment rate", "US inflation right now", "how many jobs were added". Args: series, years.

Conventions

  • Read-only. Every tool reads public data or computes; nothing is written anywhere and nothing about the user is stored.
  • Result envelope. ok: true with data, or ok: false with a structured error (bad_input, not_found, upstream_error). degraded lists optional sources that were unreachable.
  • Rate limits. Free tier 60 tool calls/minute and 300/day per user (keyed on the user identifier supplied by the host agent, else client IP); Pro keys raise this. Over-limit calls return HTTP 429 with Retry-After. initialize and tools/list are never counted.

Econ — Privacy Policy

Effective 23 September 2026. Unify Dynamics LLC ("we", "us"), Menlo Park, California.

What Econ is. Econ is a connector (an MCP server and REST API) that AI assistants and personal agents call on your behalf for economic and social statistics from the IMF, World Bank, Eurostat, open-data portals and the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. You interact with your assistant; the assistant sends us only the country, indicator, year, search words or dataset id needed for the lookup.

What we receive. The arguments of each tool call (country names, indicator names, years, search words, a dataset id), the technical headers needed to serve the request (an IP address or a client identifier supplied by the assistant, and a Pro API key if you have one), and standard server logs.

Lookups are forwarded, not stored. Queries are passed to the statistical sources below and the answer is returned to your assistant. We do not record what you ask about or build a profile. Nothing you send is stored, logged in request bodies or used to train anything. Successful upstream answers are cached in memory for one hour (portal searches) to seven days (reference lists), keyed by the query, to reduce load on the sources.

What we do not receive or store. We do not receive your conversation with the assistant, your name, contacts or any account credentials. Rate-limit counters (a client identifier and timestamps) are held in memory for at most 24 hours. Hosting-provider access logs, which contain IP addresses and request paths but not request bodies, are retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention.

Sub-processors. International Monetary Fund (imf.org DataMapper), World Bank (api.worldbank.org), Eurostat (ec.europa.eu), data.gov.uk (UK Government Digital Service), Publications Office of the EU (data.europa.eu) and the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (api.bls.gov). Each receives the query and our server's IP address, never yours. Hosting: Vercel (United States regions).

Legal bases and your rights. For users in California, the EU/UK and elsewhere, our processing is necessary to provide the service you request through your assistant. Because we store no personal data beyond short-lived logs, requests to access, correct or delete personal data are usually satisfied automatically; you can still contact agent@connectorbay.com and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information and do not use your data to train models.

Children. Econ is a general-audience service operated by the adult using the assistant.

Changes. We will post changes here with a new effective date.

Econ — Terms of Service

Effective 23 September 2026. These terms govern use of the Econ connector ("the Service") operated by Unify Dynamics LLC ("we", "us").

  1. The Service. Econ returns economic and social statistics — IMF World Economic Outlook data, World Bank indicators, Eurostat series, open-data catalogue results and BLS series — from public sources. It is accessed through an AI assistant or directly over MCP or HTTP.
  2. Sources and licences. IMF DataMapper data under the IMF's terms of use (attribute the IMF WEO); World Bank data under CC BY 4.0; Eurostat data under its reuse policy (© European Union); data.gov.uk metadata under the Open Government Licence; data.europa.eu metadata under its terms; BLS data is U.S. public domain. Datasets found through the portals carry their own licences.
  3. Accuracy. Figures are the sources' latest published values and revisions happen; projections are the IMF's. The Service provides statistics, not investment, tax or policy advice.
  4. Acceptable use. Do not use the Service to bulk-download the sources or to circumvent rate limits. Automated use within the published limits is welcome.
  5. Availability. The Service is provided "as is" without warranty. We may change, limit or discontinue it at any time.
  6. Data. Our Privacy Policy describes what we process. In short: your query is forwarded and nothing is stored.
