ELI5 — Privacy Policy

Effective 22 September 2026 · Unify Dynamics LLC · agent@connectorbay.com

The short version

ELI5 stores nothing. Documents you send are processed in memory to produce the response and are never written to disk, never logged, and never used to train anything. We have no user accounts, no database of documents, and no record of what anyone asked.

What reaches our server

When an AI agent calls an ELI5 tool on your behalf, the server receives the arguments of that call — the text of a document you asked to have decoded, a topic, a word, a grade level. It also receives ordinary HTTP metadata: your IP address or a client identifier supplied by the host platform, and a timestamp.

We do not receive your conversation, your name, your account, or anything else about you.

What we do with it

Document and topic text is held in memory for the duration of the request and discarded when the response is sent. It is not written to disk and does not appear in our logs.

A client identifier — the platform-supplied user identifier if the host sends one, otherwise your IP address — is kept as a list of request timestamps for 24 hours, solely to enforce rate limits. It is not linked to any content. After 24 hours it is deleted automatically.

Operational logs record the fact that a request happened, which tool was called, and whether an upstream source failed. They do not record tool arguments or responses.

Third parties

Some tools query public APIs. Only the specific lookup term is sent — never a document, never a prompt, never anything identifying you:

Service Operator What is sent
Wikipedia, Simple English Wikipedia, Wiktionary Wikimedia Foundation An article or word title
Datamuse API Datamuse A single word
MedlinePlus U.S. National Library of Medicine A medical term
openFDA U.S. Food and Drug Administration A drug name
RxNorm U.S. National Library of Medicine A drug name

Each of these operators has its own privacy practices for requests it receives. Requests reach them from our servers, not from your device, so your IP address is not disclosed to them.

Lookup results are cached on our server for 24 hours, keyed by the term. The cache holds definitions, not anything about the person who asked.

Sensitive documents

ELI5 is designed to be used on medical, financial and legal documents, so the no-retention commitment above is the central safeguard. Two further design choices matter:

No tool asks for, or has any use for, a Social Security number, a Medicare number, a bank or card number, or a date of birth. If such a number appears in a document you paste, it is processed in memory with the rest of the text and discarded with it, and it is never sent to any third party — the medical tools transmit only the medical term they are looking up, never your text.

Nothing you send is used to train or improve any model, by us or by anyone else.

Your rights

Because we retain no personal data, there is nothing for us to give you a copy of, correct, or delete — a request for any of these can be answered only with this explanation. Residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and other states with comprehensive privacy laws, and individuals in the EEA and UK, may nonetheless contact us at agent@connectorbay.com and we will respond within the time their law requires. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising, and we have never done so.

Children

ELI5 has tools intended for parents and teachers working with children, but it is used by the adult operating the AI agent, not by a child. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, of any age, and we retain none.

Security

All traffic is TLS-encrypted. The server runs as an unprivileged user in an isolated container with no persistent storage attached. There is no administrative interface and no data store to breach.

Changes

Material changes will be posted here with a new effective date. Because the substance of this policy is "we keep nothing", any change that weakened it would be announced before it took effect.
