ELI5 — Terms of Service
Effective 22 September 2026 · Unify Dynamics LLC ("we", "us")
1. What this service is
ELI5 is a hosted MCP server that provides definitions, readability measurements, document analysis and educational scaffolding to AI agents. By calling it, you agree to these terms.
2. Informational only — not professional advice
This is the term that matters most, so it is first.
ELI5 provides general information. It is not legal advice, not medical advice, not tax advice and not financial advice, and using it creates no attorney-client, clinician-patient or advisory relationship of any kind.
Medical. The medical tools explain terminology and report values against ranges printed in your own document. They do not diagnose, do not interpret results, and do not advise on any medication or treatment. Nothing here is a substitute for your clinician or pharmacist, and no decision about your health should rest on it.
Legal. Clause detection is pattern matching against common contract wording. It finds language, not legal conclusions. A match means a passage worth reading closely. A miss does not mean a clause is absent. Many of the clauses it flags are unenforceable in some states regardless of what a document says. Only a lawyer in your jurisdiction can tell you what your contract means for you.
Financial. Arithmetic checks verify that numbers on a document are internally consistent. They do not establish that a charge is correct, owed, or fair.
In an emergency, call your local emergency number. Do not use an AI agent.
3. Accuracy
We work to keep this service accurate, and it is built to be checkable: readability figures come from published formulas, definitions carry their sources, and clause detection quotes the text it matched. It is still provided as is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement.
Third-party sources (Wikipedia, Wiktionary, MedlinePlus, openFDA, RxNorm, Datamuse) may be
inaccurate, out of date or unavailable, and we do not control them. Where a tool reports
degraded or grounding_unavailable, treat its answer as incomplete.
Document type detection, clause detection and value extraction are heuristic. They will sometimes miss things and sometimes flag things that are not there. Read the document.
4. Acceptable use
You may use ELI5 through an AI agent for personal, educational or commercial purposes. You may not:
- exceed the published rate limits, or evade them by rotating identifiers
- send content you have no right to send us
- present its output as legal, medical, tax or financial advice, or as the work of a licensed professional
- use it to draft, tune or test contract language intended to disadvantage a party who will not read it
- attempt to disrupt the service or gain unauthorised access to it
We may suspend access that breaches these terms or threatens the service's availability.
5. Rate limits and availability
The free tier allows 300 tool calls per user per day and 60 per minute. An optional Pro key raises this to 5,000 per day. We aim for 99.9% availability but do not guarantee it, and we may change, suspend or discontinue the service at any time. The free tier carries no uptime commitment.
6. Privacy
Covered by our Privacy Policy. In short: documents are processed in memory and never stored, and nothing sent to us is used to train any model.
7. Intellectual property
The server, its glossary, clause library, misconception catalogue and analogy scaffolds are the property of Unify Dynamics LLC. Content from third-party sources remains under its own licence: Wikipedia, Simple English Wikipedia and Wiktionary text is CC BY-SA and must be attributed when quoted, and every response carries the source URL so that attribution is possible. U.S. government sources (MedlinePlus, openFDA, RxNorm) are generally public domain.
You own whatever you send us, and we claim no rights in it.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of this service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or one hundred U.S. dollars.
Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions, in which case they apply only so far as that jurisdiction permits. Nothing here limits liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence, where the law does not allow that limitation.
9. Indemnity
You will indemnify us against claims arising from your misuse of the service or your breach of these terms. This does not extend to claims arising from our own acts or omissions.
10. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be brought in the state or federal courts of San Mateo County, California.
There is no arbitration clause and no class action waiver in these terms. A service that exists partly to help people notice those clauses should not bury them in its own.
11. Changes
We may update these terms and will post the new effective date here. Continuing to use the service after a material change means you accept it; if you do not, stop using the service.
