About

Hostel v Hotel is a fully local, hand-curated decision-framework reference comparing hostels and hotels. compare_overview gives the full dimension-by-dimension comparison; compare_dimension gives just one (cost, privacy, social opportunity, amenities, flexibility, safety) in detail. amenities_checklist, safety_considerations and booking_tips each cover one accommodation type. recommend_for_profile gives a recommendation and reasoning for a traveler profile: solo wanting to socialize, solo wanting privacy, budget backpacker, family, business trip, romantic couple, group of friends, or extended stay. cost_ratio_estimate gives a general rule-of-thumb cost ratio between a hostel dorm bed and a comparable hotel room, and — given a price you supply — an illustrative range, never a real quoted price. family_or_group_considerations covers how the calculus shifts for families and groups. decision_quiz combines a few stated priorities into a simple verdict. accommodation_glossary defines terms like dorm bed, hostel private room, and capsule hotel. No real brand names anywhere. Keyless; fully local; zero upstream calls; nothing stored.

Sources: Hand-curated from widely-observed general patterns in the hostel and hotel industries; the cost tool applies a stated general rule-of-thumb ratio, never a real or brand-specific price. Fully local; zero upstream calls.

What Hostel v Hotel is for

"Should I book a hostel or a hotel?" depends on what you actually want from the trip — cost, privacy, meeting people, or predictable comfort pull in different directions. Hostel v Hotel is a general decision framework to help you reason through the trade-off, not a booking site or a list of real properties.

What it does

compare_overview gives the full dimension-by-dimension comparison (cost, privacy, social opportunity, amenities, flexibility, safety); compare_dimension gives just one in detail. amenities_checklist, safety_considerations and booking_tips each cover one accommodation type. recommend_for_profile gives a recommendation and reasoning for a traveler profile — solo wanting to socialize, solo wanting privacy, budget backpacker, family, business trip, romantic couple, group of friends, or extended stay. cost_ratio_estimate gives a general rule-of-thumb cost ratio between a hostel dorm bed and a comparable hotel room, and, given a price you already know, an illustrative range. family_or_group_considerations covers how the calculus shifts for families and groups. decision_quiz combines a few stated priorities into a simple verdict. accommodation_glossary defines terms like dorm bed, hostel private room, and capsule hotel.

What it is not

Hostel v Hotel never names a real brand or property, and it isn't a live price comparison — the cost tool applies a general rule-of-thumb ratio to a price you supply, not a real current quote for any location. It's a framework for reasoning about the trade-off, not a booking recommendation for anywhere specific.

Privacy policy

Hostel v Hotel — Privacy Policy

Effective 26 September 2026. Unify Dynamics LLC ("we", "us"), Menlo Park, California.

What Hostel v Hotel is. Hostel v Hotel is a connector (an MCP server and REST API) that AI assistants and personal agents call on your behalf for a hand-curated, fully local hostel-vs-hotel decision framework — comparisons, recommendations by traveler profile, a cost-ratio estimator, and a glossary. You interact with your assistant; the assistant sends us only the arguments needed for that one lookup.

What we receive. The arguments of each tool call — a comparison dimension, an accommodation type, a traveler profile, a known price for the cost-ratio tool, a handful of yes/no priorities for the decision quiz, or a glossary term — the technical headers needed to serve the request (an IP address or a client identifier supplied by the assistant, and a Pro API key if you have one), and standard server logs.

Everything is answered from a bundled, hand-curated reference file and nothing is stored. No request is forwarded to any third party — there is no upstream call at all, live or otherwise — and no query is logged in request bodies, recorded, or used to train anything.

What we do not receive or store. We do not receive your conversation with the assistant, your name, or any real booking or property details, and we do not build a profile from your queries: each request is answered independently and nothing carries over between requests. Rate-limit counters (a client identifier and timestamps) are held in memory for at most 24 hours. Hosting-provider access logs, which contain IP addresses and request paths but not request bodies, are retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention.

Sub-processors. None — the entire dataset is bundled with the server and answered locally. Hosting: Vercel (United States regions).

Legal bases and your rights. Our processing is necessary to provide the service you request through your assistant. Because we store no personal data beyond short-lived logs, requests to access, correct or delete personal data are usually satisfied automatically; you can still contact agent@connectorbay.com and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information and do not use your data to train models.

Children. Hostel v Hotel is a general-audience service operated by the adult using the assistant.

Changes. We will post changes here with a new effective date.

Terms of service

Hostel v Hotel — Terms of Service

Effective 26 September 2026. These terms govern use of the Hostel v Hotel connector ("the Service") operated by Unify Dynamics LLC ("we", "us").

  1. The Service. Hostel v Hotel returns a hand-curated, fully local decision framework comparing hostels and hotels, a recommendation quiz by traveler profile, and a rule-of-thumb cost-ratio estimator. It is accessed through an AI assistant or directly over MCP or HTTP.
  2. General framework, not a booking or price service. Hostel v Hotel does not name, endorse, or compare any real, specific property or brand, and it is not a live pricing, availability, or booking service. The cost_ratio_estimate tool applies a general, illustrative rule-of-thumb ratio to a price you supply — it is not a real quoted price for any location, date, or property.
  3. Reference, not exhaustive. Content reflects general, widely-observed patterns in the hostel and hotel industries as of the build date stated in the Service's own data; individual properties vary enormously and should be evaluated on their own current reviews and listings.
  4. Acceptable use. Automated use within the published rate limits is welcome.
  5. Availability. The Service is provided "as is" without warranty. We may change, limit or discontinue it at any time.
  6. Data. Our Privacy Policy describes what we process. In short: your query is answered from a bundled reference file, and nothing is stored.
  7. Pro keys. Optional Pro API keys are issued at our discretion, are personal to the holder and may be revoked for abuse.
  8. Liability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Unify Dynamics LLC is not liable for any loss, injury, or damage arising from use of, or reliance on, the Service, including any accommodation-choice or cost-estimate decisions. Our total liability is limited to US $100.
  9. Governing law. California law; venue in San Mateo County, California.
  10. Contact. Unify Dynamics LLC · agent@connectorbay.com · https://connectorbay.com/hostelvhotel
