Real questions, and the tools your agent calls to answer them.
slang_lookupformality_checktranslate_hintbrowse_by_categoryphrase_of_the_dayregional_variant_lookupexample_usageslang_searchslang_glossarybrowse_by_categoryJerga ("Slang") is a hand-curated Mexican Spanish slang and colloquialism dictionary. slang_lookup gives one term's definition, literal-vs-actual meaning, an example sentence in Spanish with an English translation, and a formality note; slang_search does a keyword search across terms, definitions and examples. phrase_of_the_day returns a deterministic pick for today's date with a full explanation. browse_by_category lists every term in one category — greetings, exclamations, food, money, insults-playful, school-work, or regional. regional_variant_lookup says whether a term is nationwide or tied to a region (CDMX, Norteño, Yucatán, Sinaloa, and more). translate_hint suggests the closest Mexican-slang equivalent to a common English phrase or concept. example_usage gives example sentences with an English gloss. formality_check flags a term's register — neutral colloquial, playful, vulgar-but-common, or context-dependent (avoid with strangers) — honestly, without sanitizing away common everyday profanity, but the dataset never includes slurs or hate speech targeting a protected group. slang_glossary browses the full dictionary alphabetically or looks up one term glossary-style. Keyless; fully local.

Definitions for 100+ hand-picked, genuinely common Mexican Spanish slang terms and everyday expressions —
literal meaning vs. actual meaning, an example sentence in Spanish with an English translation, and a
category (slang_lookup); a keyword search across every term, definition and example (slang_search); a
deterministic phrase of the day, the same for everyone on a given date (phrase_of_the_day); every term in
one category, from greetings and exclamations to food, money, playful insults, school/work slang and
regionalisms (browse_by_category); a note on whether a term is used nationwide or tied to a specific region
— CDMX, Norteño, Yucatán, Sinaloa and more (regional_variant_lookup); a best-effort match from a common
English phrase or concept (like "I'm broke" or "no big deal") to its closest Mexican-slang equivalent in this
dataset (translate_hint); one or more example sentences with an English gloss (example_usage); a
formality/register flag — neutral colloquial, playful, vulgar-but-common, or context-dependent (avoid with
strangers) — so a term doesn't get misused (formality_check); and a full alphabetical glossary browse, or a
single glossary-style entry (slang_glossary).
Not a live dictionary, a machine-translation API, or an academic linguistics resource — Jerga (Slang) is a hand-written dictionary, and language like this moves fast: usage shifts by region, by generation, and by who's in the room. Every entry is a starting point for understanding, not a rulebook. The dataset honestly flags common vulgar-but-everyday language the way Mexican Spanish actually uses it, rather than sanitizing it away — but it never includes slurs or hate speech targeting a protected group. For anything beyond casual conversation — legal, medical, or official translation — use a professional service, not a slang dictionary.
slang_lookup — Look up one Mexican Spanish slang term or expression: its definition, its literal meaning versus what it actually/idiomatically means, an example sentence in Spanish with an English translation, its category, and a formality/register note. Use for "what does 'no manches' mean", "what does 'qué onda' actually mean". Args: term.
slang_search — Keyword search across every term's name, definitions, example sentences and register notes. Use for "find slang about money", "any terms about being broke". Args: query.
translate_hint — Best-effort suggestion(s) for the closest Mexican-Spanish slang equivalent to a common English casual phrase or concept, matched by keyword against this connector's own curated data — not a live translation service. Use for "how do I say 'I'm broke' in Mexican slang", "what's the Mexican slang for 'what's up'". Args: english_phrase.
browse_by_category — Every term in one category. Use for "list all the greetings", "show me the money slang", "what are some regionalisms". Args: category.
phrase_of_the_day — Today's phrase of the day — a deterministic pick (seeded by today's date, so it's the same for everyone and stable across calls today) with a full explanation. Use for "what's today's Mexican slang phrase of the day".
slang_glossary — Browse the full glossary: every term with its category and a short meaning, sorted alphabetically, when no term is given; or one term's full entry, glossary-style, when a term is given. Use for "show me the whole slang glossary", "give me the glossary entry for 'lana'". Args: term.
regional_variant_lookup — Whether a term is used nationwide, or skews to a specific region (CDMX, Norteño, Yucatán, Sinaloa, and more). Use for "is 'qué pex' a Northern Mexico thing", "where is 'way' used", "is 'chido' used nationwide". Args: term.
formality_check — Flags a term's register: neutral colloquial (fine anywhere casual), playful (light teasing, no real offense), vulgar-but-common (mild profanity, everyday among friends but skip it formally), or context-dependent / avoid-with-strangers (can land as an insult or as banter depending on tone and who you're talking to). Use for "is 'güey' okay to say to my boss", "is 'no mames' rude". Args: term.
example_usage — One or more example sentences for a term, each in Spanish with an English gloss. Use for "give me an example sentence with 'chamba'", "how would I use 'no mames' in a sentence". Args: term.

What Jerga (Slang) is. Jerga (Slang) is a connector (an MCP server and REST API) that AI assistants and personal agents call on your behalf for a hand-curated Mexican Spanish slang and colloquialism dictionary. You interact with your assistant; the assistant sends us only the arguments needed for that one lookup.
What we receive. The arguments of each tool call — a slang term, a search keyword, a category, or an
English phrase for translate_hint — the technical headers needed to serve the request (an IP address or a
client identifier supplied by the assistant, and a Pro API key if you have one), and standard server logs.
Everything is answered from a bundled, hand-curated dataset and nothing is stored. No request is forwarded to any third party — there is no upstream call at all, live or otherwise — and no query is logged in request bodies, recorded, or used to train anything.
What we do not receive or store. We do not receive your conversation with the assistant or your name, and we do not build a profile from your queries: each request is answered independently and nothing carries over between requests. Rate-limit counters (a client identifier and timestamps) are held in memory for at most 24 hours. Hosting-provider access logs, which contain IP addresses and request paths but not request bodies, are retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention.
Sub-processors. None — the entire dataset is bundled with the server and answered locally. Hosting: Vercel (United States regions).
Legal bases and your rights. Our processing is necessary to provide the service you request through your assistant. Because we store no personal data beyond short-lived logs, requests to access, correct or delete personal data are usually satisfied automatically; you can still contact agent@connectorbay.com and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information and do not use your data to train models.
Children. Jerga (Slang) is a general-audience reference operated by the adult using the assistant; the dataset honestly flags common vulgar-but-everyday language by register rather than hiding it, but never includes slurs or hate speech targeting a protected group.
Changes. We will post changes here with a new effective date.
