mechanic_info — Full detail for one legacy/campaign board game mechanic: category, an original explanation of how it works, whether it's permanent or resettable, its effect on replayability, real games that use it, and related mechanics. Use for "what is a sealed envelope in board games", "how does the sticker mechanic work". Args: name.
category_list — Every legacy/campaign mechanic category with how many mechanics are in it. Use for "what categories of legacy mechanics do you cover".
design_consideration — Covers one practical design/ownership consideration for choosing or running a legacy or campaign game — replayability, group buy-in and commitment, storage of persistent state, cost per play, spoiler management, scheduling cadence, legacy fatigue, or resale/secondhand value — with its real tradeoffs. Use for "why do legacy games cost so much", "how do I keep a group committed to a campaign". Args: topic.
term_glossary — Defines legacy/campaign genre terms — legacy game, campaign game, legacy-lite, one-and-done, permanent alteration, sealed content, campaign log, scenario, chapter, unlock, sticker mechanic, persistent world state, meta-progression, branching narrative, recharge kit, spoiler, group buy-in, save state, and more. Use for "what does 'legacy-lite' mean", "what's a campaign log". Args: term.
game_examples — Real, factually-referenced games that use one named legacy/campaign mechanic, each with year, publisher, player count, overall commitment level, and how it applies that mechanic in original wording — never reproduced rules or card text. Use for "what games use sealed envelopes", "give me examples of persistent character sheets". Args: mechanic.
find_game_for_group — Suggests real legacy/campaign games matching a group's size and desired session-count/time commitment (low, medium, high, marathon). Use for "what legacy game works for 2 players who want something short", "campaign game for a group of 5 willing to commit to a lot of sessions". Args: player_count, commitment_level.
campaign_length_estimator — Calculates a campaign's total playtime (with a typical setup/log-reading overhead added), calendar-time estimates at weekly/biweekly/monthly cadence, a commitment tier (low/medium/high/marathon), and a rough comparison to a real game of similar total length. A real calculation, not a lookup. Use for "how long will a 12-session campaign take", "20 chapters at 90 minutes each, how many months is that biweekly". Args: scenario_count, avg_session_minutes.
beginner_tips — A curated, ordered list of practical tips for a group about to start their first legacy or campaign game. Use for "what should we know before starting a legacy game", "tips for our first campaign board game". Args: count.

What Legacy is. Legacy is a connector (an MCP server and REST API) that AI assistants and personal agents call on your behalf for a hand-curated legacy & campaign board game genre reference — mechanics, real examples, and a campaign-length calculator. You interact with your assistant; the assistant sends us only the arguments needed for that one lookup.
What we receive. The arguments of each tool call, the technical headers needed to serve the request (an IP address or a client identifier supplied by the assistant, and a Pro API key if you have one), and standard server logs.
Everything is answered from a bundled, hand-curated reference file and nothing is stored. No request is forwarded to any third party — there is no upstream call at all, live or otherwise — and no query is logged in request bodies, recorded, or used to train anything.
What we do not receive or store. We do not receive your conversation with the assistant or your name, and we do not build a profile from your queries: each request is answered independently and nothing carries over between requests. Rate-limit counters (a client identifier and timestamps) are held in memory for at most 24 hours. Hosting-provider access logs, which contain IP addresses and request paths but not request bodies, are retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention.
Sub-processors. None — the entire dataset is bundled with the server and answered locally. Hosting: Vercel (United States regions).
Legal bases and your rights. Our processing is necessary to provide the service you request through your assistant. Because we store no personal data beyond short-lived logs, requests to access, correct or delete personal data are usually satisfied automatically; you can still contact agent@connectorbay.com and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information and do not use your data to train models.
Children. Legacy is a general-audience service operated by the adult using the assistant.
Changes. We will post changes here with a new effective date.
