Plate — Privacy Policy
Effective 22 September 2026. Unify Dynamics LLC ("we", "us"), Menlo Park, California.
What Plate is. Plate is a connector (an MCP server and REST API) that AI assistants and personal agents call on your behalf to explain food: what is in a packaged product, nutrition for generic foods, allergen checks, ingredient decoding, swaps, daily targets and recalls. You interact with your assistant; the assistant sends us only the specific request needed: a barcode, a product or food name, an ingredient list, a list of allergens, an age and sex for daily targets, or the products you want checked for recalls.
What we receive. The arguments of each tool call, the technical headers needed to serve the request (an IP address or a client identifier supplied by the assistant, and a Pro API key if you have one), and standard server logs.
What we do not receive or store. We do not receive your conversation with the assistant, your name, contacts, health records, or account credentials for any service. Tool inputs and outputs — including allergens, ages, foods and pantry lists — are processed in memory for the single request that carries them and are not stored. We do not build a profile of what you eat. Rate-limit counters (a client identifier and timestamps) are held in memory for at most 24 hours. Hosting-provider access logs, which contain IP addresses and request paths but not request bodies, are retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention.
Health information. Allergens, dietary goals or conditions you mention to your assistant may be passed to Plate as tool arguments so it can answer; they are used only for that request and are never stored or shared. Plate's output restates published U.S. guidance and is not medical advice.
Sub-processors. To answer requests we forward the minimum necessary data (a barcode, a food name, a search phrase) to: - Open Food Facts (a non-profit association, France) — barcode and product-name lookups; the request carries our identifier, never yours. - U.S. Food and Drug Administration (openFDA) — recall searches by product words. - U.S. Department of Agriculture (FoodData Central, FSIS) — generic-food lookups are answered from data bundled with the connector; the live FoodData Central API is used only if a key is configured; FSIS is queried for the recall list without any of your data. - Vercel — hosting infrastructure (United States regions).
Legal bases and your rights. For users in California, the EU/UK and elsewhere, our processing is necessary to provide the service you request through your assistant. Because we store no personal data beyond short-lived logs, requests to access, correct or delete personal data are usually satisfied automatically; you can still contact agent@connectorbay.com and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information for advertising and do not use your data to train models.
Children. Plate is a general-audience service operated by the adult using the assistant. Daily targets for children are the published Dietary Guidelines figures; no information about a child is stored.
Changes. We will post changes here with a new effective date.
