Plate — Terms of Service

Effective 22 September 2026. These terms govern use of the Plate connector ("the Service") operated by Unify Dynamics LLC ("we", "us").

1. The Service. Plate returns food facts from public databases (Open Food Facts, USDA FoodData Central, FDA and USDA-FSIS recall data) and restates published U.S. dietary guidance around them. It is accessed through an AI assistant or directly over MCP or HTTP.
2. Not medical or dietary advice. %Daily Values, low/high flags, calorie and MyPlate targets, and sugar, sodium and saturated-fat limits are published FDA and Dietary Guidelines figures for the general population. They are information, not a diagnosis, treatment or diet plan. People with a medical condition, an allergy, or who are pregnant, breastfeeding or caring for an infant should follow their clinician's or registered dietitian's guidance.
3. Allergens: the package is the authority. Product records are volunteer-contributed and recipes change. An allergen check reports what the record shows; "not found" is not a guarantee that a product is free of an allergen. Always read the package's ingredient and "Contains" statements.
4. Recalls. Recall data comes from FDA and USDA-FSIS and may lag their announcements; USDA-FSIS data is sometimes unreachable and the Service says so. Confirm at fda.gov/safety/recalls and fsis.usda.gov/recalls before acting.
5. Data licences. Open Food Facts data is available under the Open Database License (ODbL) and is returned with attribution and a link to the product page; USDA and FDA data are U.S. government works in the public domain. Respect those licences when reusing output.
6. Acceptable use. Do not use the Service to bulk-copy the underlying databases, to overwhelm the underlying services, or to circumvent rate limits. Automated use within the published limits is welcome.
7. Availability. The Service depends on third-party data and is provided "as is" without warranty. We may change, limit or discontinue it at any time. When a source is unavailable the Service says so rather than guessing.
8. Data. Our Privacy Policy describes what we process. In short: nothing about you is stored.
9. Pro keys. Optional Pro API keys are issued at our discretion, are personal to the holder and may be revoked for abuse.
10. Liability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Unify Dynamics LLC is not liable for any loss arising from use of or reliance on the Service. Our total liability is limited to US $100.
11. Governing law. California law; venue in San Mateo County, California.
