About

Qahwa (Coffee) is a fully local Arabic/Gulf coffee-culture reference, distinct from universal brewing calculators. qahwa_recipe gives the traditional preparation method for Saudi/Khaleeji (very light roast, cardamom and often saffron, unsweetened), Levantine (medium/dark roast, boiled, usually sweetened) or Yemeni (ginger-forward, or the husk-based qishr) styles, each with a real published coffee:water:cardamom ratio; regional_style_comparison lines the three up side by side. serving_etiquette_guide covers hospitality customs: serving order, the right-hand convention, how full the cup is filled, the shake-the-cup-to-decline gesture, refill customs and the host's role. equipment_guide covers the dallah (coffee pot), finjan (small cup), mihmas (roasting pan), mehbaj (mortar) and rakwa (the Levantine pot). cultural_significance_info covers the hospitality symbolism and UNESCO's 2015 inscription of "Arabic coffee, a symbol of generosity." roasting_notes explains how the traditional light roast differs from espresso/drip roast levels. pairing_guide covers accompaniments (chiefly dates); hospitality_phrases gives a few well-known transliterated phrases; coffee_glossary defines about a dozen terms. Keyless; fully local; zero upstream API calls.

Sources: Hand-curated against widely-published Arabic/Gulf coffee-culture sources and UNESCO's own Intangible Cultural Heritage decision record (10.COM 10.B.32, 2015) as of build date; fully local, zero upstream calls

What Qahwa is for

The cultural and hospitality context around Arabic coffee (gahwa/qahwa) that a general brewing guide won't cover: how it's traditionally made region by region, the etiquette around serving and accepting it, what the dallah and finjan actually are, and why UNESCO recognized the whole ceremony as Intangible Cultural Heritage — answered instantly, without hunting through a dozen travel and hospitality blogs.

What it does

qahwa_recipe gives the traditional preparation method for Saudi/Khaleeji (very light roast, cardamom and often saffron, unsweetened), Levantine (medium/dark roast, boiled fine-ground, usually sweetened), or Yemeni (ginger-forward, or the husk-based qishr) — each with a real, commonly-published coffee:water:cardamom ratio, not a guess. regional_style_comparison lines the three up side by side. serving_etiquette_guide covers hospitality customs: who is served first, the right-hand convention, how full the cup is filled, the shake-the-cup gesture used to decline a refill, and the host's role. equipment_guide covers the dallah (coffee pot), finjan (small cup), mihmas (roasting pan), mehbaj (mortar for grinding) and rakwa (the Levantine pot). cultural_significance_info covers the hospitality symbolism and UNESCO's 2015 inscription of "Arabic coffee, a symbol of generosity." roasting_notes explains how the traditional light roast differs from espresso or drip roast levels, and points to the separate roast connector for general brewing calculators rather than duplicating them. pairing_guide covers traditional accompaniments (chiefly dates), hospitality_phrases gives a few well-known transliterated phrases used when serving or accepting coffee, and coffee_glossary defines about a dozen terms.

What it is not

Not a universal coffee-brewing calculator — for brew ratios, grind size, water temperature and origin-flavor notes for pour-over, French press, espresso and cold brew, see the separate roast connector. Not a single fixed rulebook, either: preparation ratios and etiquette customs described here are widely-cited and commonly observed, but vary by family, country and occasion — treat them as a well-sourced starting point, not the only correct way to make or serve a cup.

Tools

Preparation

qahwa_recipe — The traditional preparation method for a regional Arabic-coffee style — Saudi/Khaleeji (very light roast, cardamom and often saffron, unsweetened), Levantine (medium/dark roast, fine grind, boiled, usually sweetened), or Yemeni (ginger-forward, or the husk-based qishr) — with a real published coffee:water:cardamom ratio for each. Omit style to get all three. Use for "how do you make Saudi qahwa", "what's the ratio for Yemeni coffee", "how is Levantine Arabic coffee made". Args: style.

regional_style_comparison — A side-by-side comparison of Khaleeji/Saudi, Levantine, and Yemeni Arabic-coffee preparation: roast level, ratio, sweetening convention, signature spice, and brewing vessel for each, plus the headline differences. Use for "how does Saudi coffee differ from Yemeni coffee", "compare Levantine and Khaleeji Arabic coffee".

roasting_notes — How Arabic coffee's traditional very-light ('blonde') roast differs from the medium-to-dark roasts common for espresso or standard drip coffee, and why — plus how Levantine-style roast/grind moves closer to Turkish coffee. Points to the separate 'roast' connector for general roast-level, grind-size and brew-ratio calculators rather than duplicating them here. Use for "why is Arabic coffee roasted so light", "is qahwa roast the same as espresso roast".

Hospitality

serving_etiquette_guide — Arabic-coffee hospitality customs: serving order (the eldest or most honored guest first), the right-hand serving and pouring convention, how full the cup is traditionally filled, the shake-the-cup gesture used to decline a refill, how refills customarily work, the host's role, and the customary dates accompaniment. Use for "what's the etiquette for Arabic coffee", "how do I decline more coffee politely", "who gets served first".

equipment_guide — Traditional Arabic-coffee equipment: the dallah (coffee pot) and its shape, the finjan (small serving cup), the mihmas (roasting pan), the mehbaj (mortar and pestle for grinding), and the rakwa (the Levantine brewing pot). Omit item to list all. Use for "what's a dallah", "what is a mehbaj used for". Args: item.

pairing_guide — Traditional accompaniments to Arabic coffee — chiefly dates (the quintessential pairing, customarily taken with the right hand in an odd number), plus nuts, Arabic sweets, and a note on why milk or cream is not traditionally added. Use for "what do you eat with Arabic coffee", "why are dates served with gahwa".

hospitality_phrases — A few common, well-known Arabic hospitality phrases related to serving or accepting coffee, transliterated with their meaning and when they're used (offering the cup, before drinking, after finishing, declining a refill). Use for "what do you say when someone offers you Arabic coffee", "how do you say please help yourself in Arabic".

Culture & reference

cultural_significance_info — The hospitality symbolism of Arabic coffee (generosity, welcome, social bonding) and UNESCO's 2015 inscription of "Arabic coffee, a symbol of generosity" on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity (10th session, Windhoek, Namibia; originally submitted jointly by Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Oman and Qatar, later extended in 2024 to add Jordan). Use for "is Arabic coffee a UNESCO heritage", "why is gahwa culturally significant".

coffee_glossary — Definitions of common Arabic-coffee-culture terms (qahwa/gahwa, dallah, finjan, hail/cardamom, bunn, mihmas, mehbaj, rakwa, sada, hilwa, majlis, karam, qishr). Use for "what does finjan mean", "what is hail in Arabic coffee". Args: term.

Conventions

  • Read-only. Every tool reads public data or computes; nothing is written anywhere and nothing about the user is stored.
  • Result envelope. ok: true with data, or ok: false with a structured error (bad_input, not_found, upstream_error). degraded lists optional sources that were unreachable.
  • Rate limits. Free tier 60 tool calls/minute and 300/day per user (keyed on the user identifier supplied by the host agent, else client IP); Pro keys raise this. Over-limit calls return HTTP 429 with Retry-After. initialize and tools/list are never counted.

Privacy policy

Qahwa (Coffee) — Privacy Policy

Effective 24 September 2026. Unify Dynamics LLC ("we", "us"), Menlo Park, California.

What Qahwa is. Qahwa (Coffee) is a connector (an MCP server and REST API) that AI assistants and personal agents call on your behalf for a fully local Arabic/Gulf coffee-culture reference: regional gahwa/qahwa preparation styles, serving etiquette, equipment, cultural background, pairings, hospitality phrases, and a glossary. You interact with your assistant; the assistant sends us only the arguments needed for that one lookup.

What we receive. The arguments of each tool call — a regional style, an equipment item, or a glossary term — the technical headers needed to serve the request (an IP address or a client identifier supplied by the assistant, and a Pro API key if you have one), and standard server logs.

Everything is answered from a bundled reference file, and nothing is stored. No request is forwarded to any third party — there is no upstream call at all, live or otherwise — and no query is logged in request bodies, recorded, or used to train anything.

What we do not receive or store. We do not receive your conversation with the assistant or your name, and we do not build a profile from your queries: each request is answered independently and nothing carries over between requests. Rate-limit counters (a client identifier and timestamps) are held in memory for at most 24 hours. Hosting-provider access logs, which contain IP addresses and request paths but not request bodies, are retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention.

Sub-processors. None — every dataset is bundled with the server and answered locally. Hosting: Vercel (United States regions).

Legal bases and your rights. Our processing is necessary to provide the service you request through your assistant. Because we store no personal data beyond short-lived logs, requests to access, correct or delete personal data are usually satisfied automatically; you can still contact agent@connectorbay.com and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information and do not use your data to train models.

Children. Qahwa is a general-audience service operated by the adult using the assistant.

Changes. We will post changes here with a new effective date.

Terms of service

Qahwa (Coffee) — Terms of Service

Effective 24 September 2026. These terms govern use of the Qahwa (Coffee) connector ("the Service") operated by Unify Dynamics LLC ("we", "us").

  1. The Service. Qahwa (Coffee) is a fully local Arabic/Gulf coffee-culture reference — regional gahwa/qahwa preparation styles, serving etiquette, equipment, cultural background, pairings, hospitality phrases, and a glossary — looked up from bundled reference data. It is accessed through an AI assistant or directly over MCP or HTTP.
  2. A cultural reference, not a single fixed rulebook. Qahwa is an independent cultural and hospitality reference, not affiliated with or endorsed by any government, cultural authority, or UNESCO. Preparation ratios and etiquette customs are widely-cited and commonly observed, but vary by family, country and occasion — always treat them as a well-sourced starting point, not the only correct way to make or serve a cup.
  3. Respectful, factual framing. Qahwa aims to describe the cardamom-spiced coffee tradition, its regional variations, and its hospitality customs factually and respectfully, without asserting a single "authentic" version where genuine regional or household variation exists.
  4. Acceptable use. Automated use within the published rate limits is welcome.
  5. Availability. The Service is provided "as is" without warranty. We may change, limit or discontinue it at any time.
  6. Data. Our Privacy Policy describes what we process. In short: your query is answered from a bundled reference file, and nothing is stored.
  7. Pro keys. Optional Pro API keys are issued at our discretion, are personal to the holder and may be revoked for abuse.
  8. Liability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Unify Dynamics LLC is not liable for any loss arising from use of or reliance on the Service. Our total liability is limited to US $100.
  9. Governing law. California law; venue in San Mateo County, California.
