Scholar — Terms of Service
Effective 23 September 2026. These terms govern use of the Scholar connector ("the Service") operated by Unify Dynamics LLC ("we", "us").
- The Service. Scholar searches scholarly indexes and returns paper metadata, formatted citations, abstracts where available, open-access links, author and journal records. It is accessed through an AI assistant or directly over MCP or HTTP.
- Sources and rights. Metadata comes from Crossref (open metadata), arXiv, PubMed/NCBI, Europe PMC, Unpaywall and ORCID under their public terms; abstracts and full texts remain the property of their publishers and authors and are returned only as those sources provide them. Respect each source's terms when reusing data at scale.
- Accuracy. Indexes disagree on citation counts, author disambiguation is imperfect, and preprints are not peer-reviewed. The Service does not evaluate research quality and is not academic, medical or legal advice.
- Acceptable use. Do not use the Service to bulk-harvest indexes, to overwhelm the sources, or to circumvent rate limits. Automated use within the published limits is welcome.
- Availability. The Service is provided "as is" without warranty. We may change, limit or discontinue it at any time.
- Data. Our Privacy Policy describes what we process. In short: your query is forwarded to the indexes and nothing is stored.
- Attribution. Crossref; arXiv.org e-Print archive (thank you to arXiv for use of its open access interoperability); NCBI PubMed; Europe PMC; Unpaywall by OurResearch; ORCID; Semantic Scholar (best-effort).
- Pro keys. Optional Pro API keys are issued at our discretion, are personal to the holder and may be revoked for abuse.
- Liability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Unify Dynamics LLC is not liable for any loss arising from use of or reliance on the Service. Our total liability is limited to US $100.
- Governing law. California law; venue in San Mateo County, California.
