scale_info — Full detail for one miniature scale: typical figure height, ground-scale ratio, genre fit, basing convention and a table-footprint note. Use for "what is 28mm scale", "how big is 15mm", "what's 1:72". Args: scale.
find_scale_for_space — Suggests suitable miniature scales and a game type (skirmish vs. mass battle) for a described tabletop space, with reasoning. Accepts plain descriptions ("a small desk", "a club table") or rough dimensions ("6x4 feet", "90x60cm"). Use for "what scale fits on my kitchen table", "I only have a small desk, what scale should I use". Args: space_description.
measurement_convention — Explains one generic tabletop measurement convention: units (inches vs. cm), measuring tools, measure-first vs. move-then-check, where on a model you measure from, ground scale vs. model scale, area/blast templates, or grid vs. free measurement. Use for "do wargamers use inches or cm", "what's a blast template", "what's ground scale". Args: topic.
turn_structure_type — Explains one generic turn-structure design pattern used across tabletop wargame design: how it works, its tradeoffs, and where it's typically used. Covers I-Go-You-Go, alternating activation, phase-based (bound) structure, card/dice-driven activation order, reactive/interrupt activation, and simultaneous (WEGO) orders. Use for "what does IGOUGO mean", "what is alternating activation", "what's a WEGO system". Args: name.
terrain_convention — Explains one generic tabletop terrain convention: terrain types, line-of-sight conventions, difficult vs. dangerous terrain, cover, terrain density guidelines, elevation/multi-level terrain, or scatter terrain vs. modular boards. Use for "what counts as cover", "how much terrain should a table have", "what's the difference between difficult and dangerous terrain". Args: topic.
painting_basics — Explains one hobby painting/finishing topic — priming, basecoating, washes and shading, highlighting, drybrushing, basing, varnishing, or brush and paint care — with a few practical tips, or lists every topic if none is given. Use for "how do I prime a miniature", "what is drybrushing", "how do I varnish a model". Args: topic.
term_glossary — Definitions of common generic miniature-wargaming terms — unit coherency, line of sight, morale check, activation, cover save, flanking, deployment zone, WYSIWYG, and more — or lists the whole glossary if no term is given. Use for "what does unit coherency mean", "what's a cover save". Args: term.
beginner_tips — A curated shortlist of practical tips for someone new to miniature wargaming, ordered from most to least essential. Use for "tips for a beginner wargamer", "what should I know before starting this hobby". Args: count.

What Skirmish is. Skirmish is a connector (an MCP server and REST API) that AI assistants and personal agents call on your behalf for a hand-curated, generic miniature wargaming hobby reference — scales, conventions, painting basics. You interact with your assistant; the assistant sends us only the arguments needed for that one lookup.
What we receive. The arguments of each tool call, the technical headers needed to serve the request (an IP address or a client identifier supplied by the assistant, and a Pro API key if you have one), and standard server logs.
Everything is answered from a bundled, hand-curated reference file and nothing is stored. No request is forwarded to any third party — there is no upstream call at all, live or otherwise — and no query is logged in request bodies, recorded, or used to train anything.
What we do not receive or store. We do not receive your conversation with the assistant or your name, and we do not build a profile from your queries: each request is answered independently and nothing carries over between requests. Rate-limit counters (a client identifier and timestamps) are held in memory for at most 24 hours. Hosting-provider access logs, which contain IP addresses and request paths but not request bodies, are retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention.
Sub-processors. None — the entire dataset is bundled with the server and answered locally. Hosting: Vercel (United States regions).
Legal bases and your rights. Our processing is necessary to provide the service you request through your assistant. Because we store no personal data beyond short-lived logs, requests to access, correct or delete personal data are usually satisfied automatically; you can still contact agent@connectorbay.com and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information and do not use your data to train models.
Children. Skirmish is a general-audience service operated by the adult using the assistant.
Changes. We will post changes here with a new effective date.
