genre_infogenre_searchregional_origin_guideinstrument_guidedance_style_guidehistory_overviewsong_structure_guidefestival_occasion_guidemusic_glossarySonido (Sound) is a fully local, hand-curated cultural and historical reference on Mexican music genres — not a catalogue of tracks or artists. genre_info gives one genre's origin/region, history overview, typical instrumentation, typical occasions and notable sub-styles for at least eight genres: mariachi, banda (banda sinaloense), norteño, ranchera, corrido, son jarocho, huapango (huasteco) and cumbia mexicana; genre_search finds genres by free-text query. regional_origin_guide maps Mexican regions to their associated genres (Jalisco/mariachi and ranchera, Sinaloa/banda, the northern border states/norteño and corrido, Veracruz/son jarocho, the Huasteca region/huapango, and more). instrument_guide covers at least eight instruments (guitarrón, vihuela, requinto jarocho, trompeta, accordion, bajo sexto, tololoche, marimba, tambora, jarana jarocha) — build, role, how it's played, typical genre association. dance_style_guide gives the associated dance style where one exists (zapateado, quebradita, and more). history_overview gives a fuller standalone history writeup for one genre. song_structure_guide describes a genre's general structural conventions in plain words, no lyrics reproduced. festival_occasion_guide gives the typical occasions and named festival traditions tied to a genre (weddings, quinceañeras, serenatas, Independence Day, Día de los Muertos). music_glossary defines about a dozen terms. Keyless; fully local; zero upstream calls; nothing stored. Names no specific living artists and quotes no lyrics.

Origin/region, history, typical instrumentation, typical occasions and notable sub-styles for at least eight
genres — mariachi, banda (banda sinaloense), norteño, ranchera, corrido, son jarocho, huapango (huasteco) and
cumbia mexicana (genre_info, genre_search); which Mexican music genres are most associated with which region
— mariachi and ranchera with Jalisco, banda with Sinaloa, norteño and corrido with the northern border states,
son jarocho with Veracruz, huapango with the Huasteca region, and more (regional_origin_guide); a guide to at
least eight instruments — guitarrón, vihuela, requinto jarocho, trompeta, accordion, bajo sexto, tololoche,
marimba, tambora and jarana jarocha — their build, how they're played, their role and typical genre association
(instrument_guide); the dance style paired with a genre where one exists, such as son jarocho and huapango's
zapateado footwork or banda's quebradita (dance_style_guide); a fuller standalone history writeup for one genre
(history_overview); a plain-words description of a genre's general structural conventions — verse-refrain,
strophic storytelling or call-and-response — with no lyrics reproduced (song_structure_guide); the typical
occasions and named festival traditions a genre is tied to — weddings, quinceañeras, serenatas, Independence Day,
Día de los Muertos (festival_occasion_guide); and a glossary of about a dozen terms — mariachi, banda, norteño,
corrido, ranchera, huapango, son, zapateado, requinto, guitarrón, vihuela, grito, fandango, quinceañera
(music_glossary).
Not a music catalogue, streaming service or artist directory — Sonido is a cultural and historical reference about the genres themselves. It names no specific living artists and quotes no song lyrics anywhere in its data. For tracks, albums, artist profiles, charts or a live discography, use a music catalogue connector instead. Fully local and keyless: nothing is fetched from any upstream source and nothing about a query is stored.

What Sonido is. Sonido (Sound) is a connector (an MCP server and REST API) that AI assistants and personal agents call on your behalf for a hand-curated Mexican music genre reference: genre profiles, an instrument guide, a regional map, dance-style pairings, standalone history writeups, song-structure conventions, a festival/occasion guide, and a glossary. You interact with your assistant; the assistant sends us only the arguments needed for that one lookup.
What we receive. The arguments of each tool call — a genre name, a search query, a region, an instrument name, or a glossary term — the technical headers needed to serve the request (an IP address or a client identifier supplied by the assistant, and a Pro API key if you have one), and standard server logs.
Everything is answered from a bundled, hand-curated reference file and nothing is stored. No request is forwarded to any third party — there is no upstream call at all, live or otherwise — and no query is logged in request bodies, recorded, or used to train anything.
What we do not receive or store. We do not receive your conversation with the assistant or your name, and we do not build a profile from your queries: each request is answered independently and nothing carries over between requests. Rate-limit counters (a client identifier and timestamps) are held in memory for at most 24 hours. Hosting-provider access logs, which contain IP addresses and request paths but not request bodies, are retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention.
Sub-processors. None — the entire dataset is bundled with the server and answered locally. Hosting: Vercel (United States regions).
Legal bases and your rights. Our processing is necessary to provide the service you request through your assistant. Because we store no personal data beyond short-lived logs, requests to access, correct or delete personal data are usually satisfied automatically; you can still contact agent@connectorbay.com and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information and do not use your data to train models.
Children. Sonido is a general-audience service operated by the adult using the assistant.
