About

Stepcount is a pure pedometer-math connector: no tracker account, no upstream API, just documented formulas. stride_length estimates stride from height (height × 0.414 for a relaxed walk, or × 0.413 as a general estimate) or lets you supply a measured stride, which is always more accurate. distance_from_steps computes distance = steps × stride length in meters, kilometers and miles. steps_to_calories estimates calories from steps, weight and duration using kcal = MET × 3.5 × kg ÷ 200 × minutes, picking the MET value from the walking speed those steps imply. cadence_to_speed and speed_to_cadence convert between steps-per-minute and walking speed for a given stride — genuine inverse math, verified to round-trip. pace_bands gives rough speed/cadence ranges from strolling to running. Keyless; computed locally; nothing stored; general fitness information, not medical advice.

Sources: Computed locally / hand-curated (documented height-based stride-length multipliers; Compendium of Physical Activities MET table used the same way as standard calorie calculators; cadence/speed formulas derived directly); fully local, zero upstream calls

What Stepcount is for

The math behind a pedometer reading: how far did those steps actually go, how many calories did they burn, and what does a given cadence mean in terms of walking speed (or vice versa).

What it does

stride_length estimates stride length from height using a documented multiplier (height × 0.414 for a relaxed walk, or height × 0.413 as a general/mixed-gait estimate) — both are commonly cited rule-of-thumb figures, and a measured stride (walk 10 steps, measure the distance, divide by 10) is always more accurate. distance_from_steps converts a step count to distance in meters, kilometers and miles using that stride (distance = steps × stride length), accepting either a height to estimate from or a measured stride to use directly. steps_to_calories estimates calories burned from steps, weight and (optionally) duration, using the same MET-based method as a standard calorie calculator (kcal = MET × 3.5 × kg ÷ 200 × minutes, Compendium of Physical Activities), picking the MET value from the walking speed those steps imply. cadence_to_speed and speed_to_cadence convert between steps-per-minute and walking speed for a given stride length — genuine inverse-relationship math, not a lookup table. pace_bands gives rough speed/cadence ranges from strolling to running for calibration.

What it is not

Not a replacement for a measured stride length, which individual leg length and gait style can put several percent away from any height-based formula. Running stride lengthens with pace and has no single reliable height-based multiplier the way an easy walk does, so running distance should use a measured or given stride rather than the walking formula. Calorie figures are population-average estimates, not measurements, and none of this is medical advice.

Stepcount — Privacy Policy

Effective 28 September 2026. Unify Dynamics LLC ("we", "us"), Menlo Park, California.

What Stepcount is. Stepcount is a connector (an MCP server and REST API) that AI assistants and personal agents call on your behalf for pedometer math: distance from a step count, calories burned from steps, and pace/cadence conversion. You interact with your assistant; the assistant sends us only the numbers needed for the calculation (step count, height or stride length, weight, duration, cadence or speed).

What we receive. The arguments of each tool call (steps, height, stride length, weight, duration, cadence, speed), the technical headers needed to serve the request (an IP address or a client identifier supplied by the assistant, and a Pro API key if you have one), and standard server logs.

Everything is computed on our server and nothing is stored. Every result is a formula applied to the numbers you send. No request is forwarded to any third party. The numbers you send are used for that one answer and are not recorded, logged in request bodies or used to train anything.

What we do not receive or store. We do not receive your conversation with the assistant, your name, contacts, medical records, location data or any account credentials. Rate-limit counters (a client identifier and timestamps) are held in memory for at most 24 hours. Hosting-provider access logs, which contain IP addresses and request paths but not request bodies, are retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention.

Sub-processors. None. Hosting: Vercel (United States regions).

Legal bases and your rights. For users in California, the EU/UK and elsewhere, our processing is necessary to provide the service you request through your assistant. Because we store no personal data beyond short-lived logs, requests to access, correct or delete personal data are usually satisfied automatically; you can still contact agent@connectorbay.com and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information and do not use your data to train models.

Children. Stepcount is a general-audience service operated by the adult using the assistant.

Changes. We will post changes here with a new effective date.

Terms of service

Stepcount — Terms of Service

Effective 28 September 2026. These terms govern use of the Stepcount connector ("the Service") operated by Unify Dynamics LLC ("we", "us").

  1. The Service. Stepcount returns pedometer math — distance from a step count, calories burned from steps, and pace/cadence conversion — computed from documented formulas. It is accessed through an AI assistant or directly over MCP or HTTP.
  2. General fitness education, not medical advice. Distance, calorie and pace figures are estimates from published formulas and rules of thumb (height-based stride-length multipliers, the Compendium of Physical Activities MET table); individual stride, gait and effort vary. Nothing here is medical, nutritional or training advice; consult a clinician or qualified coach for individual guidance, especially with an injury, a medical condition or during pregnancy.
  3. Acceptable use. Do not use the Service to circumvent rate limits. Automated use within the published limits is welcome.
  4. Availability. The Service is provided "as is" without warranty. We may change, limit or discontinue it at any time.
  5. Data. Our Privacy Policy describes what we process. In short: your query is answered on our server and nothing is stored.
  6. Pro keys. Optional Pro API keys are issued at our discretion, are personal to the holder and may be revoked for abuse.
  7. Liability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Unify Dynamics LLC is not liable for any loss arising from use of or reliance on the Service. Our total liability is limited to US $100.
  8. Governing law. California law; venue in San Mateo County, California.
  9. Contact. Unify Dynamics LLC · agent@connectorbay.com · https://connectorbay.com/stepcount
