What US Monday Brief is for

A slim connector for scheduled use. It carries only the composite tools of the US Small Business Hub that suit a recurring run: the Monday brief, what is due, what is changing, the threshold scan and the funding check (SBA size and 7(a) terms, federal grants open to small businesses). Add it when a host schedules jobs (every Monday morning, first of the month, each quarter) and does not need the reference tools. Answers are identical to the same tools on the big hub: compact by default (each source listed once in a table, repeated caveats once), every item with its verification level and status, plus not_checked, not_covered and not_run lists, a complete flag and a next_run_hint. Release 0.4.0 follows the big hub's release build: Form I-9 Section 2 dates, trademark maintenance, resale certificate dates, Texas local rate changes, CPSC eFiling dates and FEMA and SBA disaster declarations are not in this release and are answered in not_covered, never guessed. Read-only: nothing is sent, paid, filed or registered.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • "Every Monday morning tell me what is due in the next two weeks for my Texas LLC and what changed."
  • "What deadlines do I have in the next 30 days as an S corporation with three employees who pays monthly payroll deposits?"
  • "What changed this week that touches my business, including any CPSC recall that matches the products, brands and suppliers on my list, and what takes effect in the next 60 days?"
  • "I sold 450000 dollars to California and 610000 to New York this year: am I over a sales tax nexus threshold anywhere?"
  • "On the first of every month, run my sales by state against the economic nexus thresholds and tell me which states I am close to or over."
  • "Every Friday afternoon list which rules and rates take effect next week for my business."
  • "Each quarter, check whether my 1099 contractors have reached the reporting threshold using my accounting tool's payment totals."
  • "On the first of every month, take the hires from my payroll tool and tell me their state new-hire report dates and anything overdue."
  • "Every Monday tell me which federal grants open to small businesses close in the next 30 days for energy efficiency, and which Federal Register rules for my business were published this week."

What it does

  • monday_brief: The scheduled Monday-morning brief for a US small business profile: what is due in the next days and what changed or is about to change (recalls that match profile.recall_watchlist included), in one dated, sourced, ordered list, with everything the hub could not check.
  • whats_due: Dated federal and state deadlines that apply to a US small business profile within a window (payroll deposits, returns, estimated tax, information returns, annual reports, LLC fees and, with new_hire_start_dates, state new-hire report dates), each with source, verification and caveats; Form I-9, trademark and resale certificate dates are not in this release (not_covered says so).
  • whats_changing: Rule, rate and program changes for a US small business profile: minimum wage steps, Federal Register rule documents, tariff and HTS notices, sales tax nexus changes, state paid-leave premium dates, Nacha rule dates and, with profile.recall_watchlist, CPSC recalls that match the names you list, with effective dates and in-force status; disaster declarations, Texas local rate changes and CPSC eFiling dates are not in this release (not_covered says so).
  • am_i_over_the_line: Threshold scan from figures the owner supplies: sales tax economic nexus by state, 1099 reporting threshold by payee, estimated-tax threshold and safe harbor, Texas franchise no-tax-due and California LLC fee brackets.
  • funding_check: Funding and size checks for a US small business: the SBA size standard for a NAICS code and a test against your receipts or headcount, the published SBA 7(a) guaranty, interest cap and maximum loan for a loan amount with the FY2027 fee notice status, and federal grant listings open to small businesses that close soon (SBA disaster notices are not in this release).

Not in this release (version 0.4.0, the release build of us-smb): Form I-9 Section 2 dates (include_i9_dates), trademark maintenance deadlines (trademark_registration_dates), resale certificate dates (resale_certificates), Texas local sales tax rate changes, CPSC eFiling dates and FEMA and SBA disaster declarations. The arguments are still accepted; each topic answers one not_covered row that says "not in this release" with a pointer to the official source.

Data sources

  • Published specifications and tables, implemented locally. Every answer names the source it relies on.

Composed from the US Small Business Hub, which is composed from 29 US connectors; each item names its own source.

What it is not

US Monday Brief is independent; not affiliated with, endorsed by or operated by any government body, central bank, standards body or scheme operator. Names of rails, schemes and standards are used only to say what a tool works with. It is read-only: it never sends, pays, files or signs anything for you, and it never looks up private individuals.

Not advice. General information only, not legal, tax, accounting or payment advice. US Monday Brief is an independent tool: it is not affiliated with, endorsed by or operated by any government body, central bank, standards body or scheme operator. Rates, thresholds and rules change; check the cited official source and confirm with a qualified professional before you rely on a result.

Conventions

  • Read-only. Every tool reads public data or computes; nothing is written anywhere and nothing about the user is stored.
  • Result envelope. ok: true with data, or ok: false with a structured error (bad_input, not_found, upstream_error). degraded lists optional sources that were unreachable.
  • Rate limits. Free tier 60 tool calls/minute and 300/day per user (keyed on the user identifier supplied by the host agent, else client IP); Pro keys raise this. Over-limit calls return HTTP 429 with Retry-After. initialize and tools/list are never counted.
