About

Camino (The Way) is a fully local Camino de Santiago pilgrimage-planning reference and calculator. route_info gives one major route's typical starting point, verified total distance, terrain/difficulty character, popularity and a short history note (Camino Francés, Camino Portugués, Camino del Norte, Camino Primitivo, Vía de la Plata); route_comparison puts all five side by side. stage_planner takes a route and a target daily walking distance and computes the number of walking days needed plus a sensible rest-day suggestion, genuine arithmetic over the route's verified distance; distance_calculator takes how far someone has already walked and computes the remaining distance, percent complete, and estimated days left. albergue_guide explains pilgrim hostels — public/municipal vs. private vs. donativo, cost tiers, first-come-first-served booking norms, the communal dorm experience. credencial_info covers the pilgrim's passport, how sellos (stamps) work, and the verified minimum-distance rules for a Compostela (100 km on foot/horseback, 200 km by bicycle, ending in Santiago de Compostela), including the Compostela vs. Certificado de Bienvenida distinction by stated motivation, with no motivation treated as more legitimate than another. packing_list gives Camino-specific packing guidance — broken-in footwear, blister care, layering, pack-weight discipline — distinct from general travel packing. history_overview covers the pilgrimage's origin, medieval peak, 20th-century revival and UNESCO World Heritage status. camino_glossary defines common terms (credencial, sello, albergue, peregrino, Compostela, buen camino, etapa, mochila, donativo, vieira, flecha amarilla, hospitalero). Keyless; fully local; a real, centuries-old pilgrimage route network, presented purely as a practical and historical/cultural reference — people walk it for religious, spiritual, athletic or purely personal reasons, and this connector treats all of those equally.

What Camino (The Way) is for

The Camino de Santiago is one of the world's oldest and most walked pilgrimage networks — centuries of history, a dozen named routes across Spain, Portugal and France, and a set of practical questions that come up for anyone planning to walk any part of it: how far is it really, how many days will it take at my pace, what's an albergue, how do I actually get a Compostela at the end. Camino (The Way) answers all of that from one hand-verified, fully local reference, presented purely as the historical, cultural and practical phenomenon it is — never as religious advocacy.

What it does

Verified route facts — typical starting point, total distance, terrain and difficulty character, and popularity — for the five major routes: Camino Francés, Camino Portugués, Camino del Norte, Camino Primitivo and Vía de la Plata (route_info, route_comparison). Genuine computed planning math: given a route and a target daily walking distance, the number of walking days needed plus a sensible rest-day suggestion (stage_planner); given how far someone has already walked, the remaining distance and estimated days left (distance_calculator). Practical guidance on pilgrim hostels — public/municipal vs. private vs. donativo albergues, typical cost tiers, first-come-first-served booking norms, and the shared, communal experience (albergue_guide). The pilgrim's passport (credencial), how sellos (stamps) work, and the verified minimum-distance rules for a Compostela — 100 km on foot/horseback or 200 km by bicycle, ending in Santiago de Compostela — including the Compostela vs. Certificado de Bienvenida distinction based on a pilgrim's own stated motivation (credencial_info). Camino-specific packing guidance — broken-in footwear, blister care, layering and pack-weight discipline — distinct from general travel packing (packing_list). The pilgrimage's origin, medieval peak, 20th-century revival and UNESCO World Heritage status (history_overview). A glossary of common terms — credencial, sello, albergue, peregrino, Compostela, buen camino, etapa, mochila and more (camino_glossary).

What it is not

Not a live booking system, a trail-conditions feed, or an accommodation directory — Camino (The Way) is a hand-verified planning reference. It won't book an albergue bed or tell you today's weather on the Meseta; for that, use a current guidebook, an albergue's own phone line, or the route's pilgrim associations. It also takes no position on why anyone should walk the Camino: people walk it for religious, spiritual, athletic or purely personal reasons, and every tool here — including the credencial/Compostela guidance — treats all of those equally, exactly as the Pilgrim's Office's own two-certificate system does.

Tools

Routes

route_info — One major Camino route's typical starting point, verified total distance, terrain and difficulty character, popularity/crowd level, and a short historical note. Use for "how far is the Camino Francés", "tell me about the Camino Primitivo". Args: route_name.

route_comparison — A side-by-side comparison of the major Camino routes: distance, typical duration, difficulty, popularity and terrain, all in one table. Use for "compare the Camino routes", "which Camino route is easiest".

Planning

stage_planner — Computes the number of walking days needed to cover a named route's verified total distance at a target daily pace (rounded up, since a partial day still means walking), plus a sensible rest-day suggestion and the resulting total trip length. Genuine arithmetic over the route's verified distance, not a lookup. Use for "how many days to walk the Camino Francés at 25km a day". Args: route_name, daily_km_target.

distance_calculator — Given how far someone has already walked on a named route, computes the remaining distance and percent complete, and — if a daily target is given — the estimated walking days remaining. Use for "I've walked 300km of the Camino del Norte, how much is left", "at 22km a day, how many days until Santiago". Args: route_name, km_completed, daily_km_target.

Practical

albergue_guide — General guidance on pilgrim hostels (albergues): public/municipal vs. private vs. parish/donativo vs. associational, typical cost tiers, first-come-first-served booking norms, and the communal, dorm-style experience. Use for "what's an albergue", "do I need to book ahead", "how much does a pilgrim hostel cost".

credencial_info — The pilgrim's passport (credencial) and how sellos (stamps) work, the verified minimum-distance rules for a Compostela (100 km on foot/horseback or 200 km by bicycle, ending in Santiago de Compostela), and the Compostela vs. Certificado de Bienvenida vs. Certificado de Distancia distinction — based on a pilgrim's own stated motivation, with no motivation presented as more legitimate than another. Use for "how do I get a Compostela", "how many stamps do I need", "what's the minimum distance to get a certificate".

packing_list — Camino-specific packing guidance: broken-in footwear, blister prevention and care, layered clothing for variable weather, and pack-weight discipline for consecutive multi-week walking days — distinct in scope from general airline/travel packing (see the separate Packlist connector for that). Use for "what should I pack for the Camino de Santiago".

Reference

history_overview — The Camino de Santiago's origin (the tradition of St. James's remains at Santiago de Compostela), its medieval peak and later decline, its 20th-century revival, and its UNESCO World Heritage status — presented as the historical and cultural phenomenon it is, with no religious advocacy either way. Use for "why do people walk the Camino de Santiago", "is the Camino a UNESCO site", "what's the history of the Camino".

camino_glossary — Definitions of common Camino terms: credencial, sello, albergue, peregrino, Compostela, buen camino, etapa, mochila, donativo, vieira, flecha amarilla, hospitalero. Use for "what does buen camino mean", "what's a sello". Args: term.

Conventions

  • Read-only. Every tool reads public data or computes; nothing is written anywhere and nothing about the user is stored.
  • Result envelope. ok: true with data, or ok: false with a structured error (bad_input, not_found, upstream_error). degraded lists optional sources that were unreachable.
  • Rate limits. Free tier 60 tool calls/minute and 300/day per user (keyed on the user identifier supplied by the host agent, else client IP); Pro keys raise this. Over-limit calls return HTTP 429 with Retry-After. initialize and tools/list are never counted.

Privacy policy

Camino (The Way) — Privacy Policy

Effective 24 September 2026. Unify Dynamics LLC ("we", "us"), Menlo Park, California.

What Camino (The Way) is. Camino (The Way) is a connector (an MCP server and REST API) that AI assistants and personal agents call on your behalf for a fully local Camino de Santiago pilgrimage-planning reference: route facts and distances, a stage planner and distance calculator, albergue and credencial/Compostela guidance, a packing list, a route comparison, history, and a glossary. You interact with your assistant; the assistant sends us only the arguments needed for that one lookup or calculation.

What we receive. The arguments of each tool call — a route name, a target daily distance, a distance already walked, or a glossary term — the technical headers needed to serve the request (an IP address or a client identifier supplied by the assistant, and a Pro API key if you have one), and standard server logs.

Everything is answered from bundled, hand-curated reference data or computed on the fly, and nothing is stored. No request is forwarded to any third party — there is no upstream call at all, live or otherwise — and no query is logged in request bodies, recorded, or used to train anything.

What we do not receive or store. We do not receive your conversation with the assistant or your name, and we do not build a profile from your queries: each request is answered independently and nothing carries over between requests. We never know or need to know where you personally are on the Camino, why you are walking it, or anything else about you as an individual. Rate-limit counters (a client identifier and timestamps) are held in memory for at most 24 hours. Hosting-provider access logs, which contain IP addresses and request paths but not request bodies, are retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention.

Sub-processors. None — the entire dataset is bundled with the server and every answer is computed or looked up locally. Hosting: Vercel (United States regions).

Legal bases and your rights. Our processing is necessary to provide the service you request through your assistant. Because we store no personal data beyond short-lived logs, requests to access, correct or delete personal data are usually satisfied automatically; you can still contact agent@connectorbay.com and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information and do not use your data to train models.

Children. Camino (The Way) is a general-audience service operated by the adult using the assistant.

Changes. We will post changes here with a new effective date.

Terms of service

Camino (The Way) — Terms of Service

Effective 24 September 2026. These terms govern use of the Camino (The Way) connector ("the Service") operated by Unify Dynamics LLC ("we", "us").

  1. The Service. Camino (The Way) returns a fully local Camino de Santiago pilgrimage-planning reference — verified route facts and distances, a stage planner and distance calculator, albergue and credencial/Compostela guidance, a packing list, a route comparison, history, and a glossary — from data verified against public reporting at build time, or computed on the fly. It is accessed through an AI assistant or directly over MCP or HTTP.
  2. Not a booking system, not official, and not religious guidance. Camino (The Way) is an independent, informational reference tool, not affiliated with or endorsed by the Cathedral of Santiago, its Pilgrim's Office, any diocese, any government tourism body, or any albergue or route operator. It does not book accommodation, issue credenciales or Compostelas, or provide live trail conditions or weather, and it takes no position on the religious, spiritual or secular reasons anyone may have for walking the Camino.
  3. Facts change. Distances, prices, albergue availability, booking norms and official rules (including Compostela requirements) reflect public reporting as of the build date stated in the Service's own data; always check the current guidance of the Pilgrim's Office (Oficina del Peregrino) or a current guidebook before you go.
  4. Acceptable use. Automated use within the published rate limits is welcome.
  5. Availability. The Service is provided "as is" without warranty. We may change, limit or discontinue it at any time.
  6. Data. Our Privacy Policy describes what we process. In short: your query is answered from bundled reference data or computed locally, and nothing is stored.
  7. Pro keys. Optional Pro API keys are issued at our discretion, are personal to the holder and may be revoked for abuse.
  8. Liability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Unify Dynamics LLC is not liable for any loss arising from use of or reliance on the Service, including any loss arising from relying on it while actually walking the Camino. Our total liability is limited to US $100.
  9. Governing law. California law; venue in San Mateo County, California.
