Snowball vs avalanche vs hybrid, side by side, with a brute-force optimality check

Real questions, and the tools your agent calls to answer them.
debt_payoff_snowballdebt_payoff_avalanchedebt_payoff_hybridcompare_payoff_strategiescompare_payoff_strategiesdebtsnowballpro_glossaryDebtSnowballPro extends this catalog's `envelope` connector with genuine multi-strategy debt-payoff comparison. Three strategies share one simulation engine: snowball (smallest balance first), avalanche (highest interest rate first), and hybrid (a documented composite score blending rate and balance) or a fully custom order you specify. compare_payoff_strategies runs all three against the identical debts and extra-payment budget, with a comparison table and a check of whether avalanche's total interest was in fact the lowest. Personal-finance folklore says avalanche always minimizes total interest — this connector's own testing confirms that whenever minimum payments are equal or scale with balance (the normal case), but honestly reports the rare exception (very disproportionate minimum payments) via a brute-force optimality check across every possible order, up to 7 debts, rather than assuming. A glossary covers snowball, avalanche, hybrid strategy, interchange argument, and more. General educational information, not financial advice.
Sources: Self-contained debt-payoff simulation (standard snowball/avalanche mechanics, documented in the connector's own module), plus an in-product brute-force optimality check — no dated tax tables. Computed locally; fully local, zero upstream calls.
The publisher, Unify Dynamics LLC, states that tool inputs are processed in memory and not retained.

"Compare snowball vs avalanche on my 4 credit cards with $300 extra a month", "prove avalanche is optimal for these debts", "what order should I pay off my credit card, car loan, and student loan in" — the multi-debt payoff questions that a single-strategy calculator can't really answer. DebtSnowballPro answers them by actually simulating every strategy, month by month, for your real numbers.
Three strategies, one engine. debt_payoff_snowball (smallest balance first), debt_payoff_avalanche
(highest interest rate first), and debt_payoff_hybrid (a documented composite score blending rate and
balance — or your own exact custom order) each run a full month-by-month simulation: interest accrues on
every debt still owing, the current "target" debt gets its minimum plus your extra payment plus every
already-freed minimum from a paid-off debt, and every other debt pays its own minimum. Total monthly outlay
stays constant for as long as more than one debt remains.
Real side-by-side comparison. compare_payoff_strategies runs all three against the identical debts
and extra-payment budget and returns a comparison table (total interest, months to debt-free, total paid)
sorted cheapest first, plus a check — computed directly from the simulation, not assumed — of whether
avalanche's total interest was in fact the lowest of the three.
An honest optimality check, not a citation. Personal-finance folklore says avalanche always minimizes
total interest. In this connector's own testing that held up whenever minimum payments were equal or
scaled with balance (the normal case for revolving credit) — but NOT always when minimum payments are
disproportionate to balance (an unusually large fixed minimum on a small debt, for instance). Rather than
assert a universal law, compare_payoff_strategies(verify_optimal=True) brute-forces every possible payoff
order for the debts you actually gave it (up to 7 debts) and tells you plainly whether avalanche matches
the true minimum — and if not, which order would save a bit more.
Glossary. Plain-language definitions: snowball, avalanche, hybrid strategy, custom order, interchange argument, freed-up minimum, APR, amortization.
Not personalized financial advice, and not a substitute for reading your actual loan terms (some debts
have prepayment penalties, promotional rates, or deferred-interest terms this simple model doesn't know
about). The comparison assumes a constant monthly extra-payment budget and fixed interest rates for the
whole payoff period — real cards and loans can change rates. This catalog's envelope connector covers
basic snowball/avalanche for a single-strategy quick answer; use DebtSnowballPro when you want the full
comparison or the optimality check.

What DebtSnowballPro is. DebtSnowballPro is a connector (an MCP server and REST API) that AI assistants and personal agents call on your behalf for multi-strategy debt-payoff calculations. You interact with your assistant; the assistant sends us only the numbers needed for that one calculation.
What we receive. The arguments of each tool call — a list of debts (an optional name, balance, minimum payment, and interest rate for each), an extra-payment amount, and optionally a custom payoff order — the technical headers needed to serve the request (an IP address or a client identifier supplied by the assistant, and a Pro API key if you have one), and standard server logs.
Everything is computed on our server and nothing is stored. Every calculation is a month-by-month simulation computed from the numbers you provide; no request is forwarded to any third party, and no query — including any balance, interest rate, or debt name you enter — is logged in request bodies, recorded, or used to train anything.
What we do not receive or store. We do not receive your conversation with the assistant, your name, account numbers, lender names tied to real accounts, or any other identifying information, and we do not build a financial profile from your queries: each calculation is answered independently and nothing carries over between requests. Rate-limit counters (a client identifier and timestamps) are held in memory for at most 24 hours. Hosting-provider access logs, which contain IP addresses and request paths but not request bodies, are retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention.
Sub-processors. None — every tool is computed locally. Hosting: Vercel (United States regions).
Legal bases and your rights. For users in California, the EU/UK and elsewhere, our processing is necessary to provide the service you request through your assistant. Because we store no personal data beyond short-lived logs, requests to access, correct or delete personal data are usually satisfied automatically; you can still contact agent@connectorbay.com and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information and do not use your data to train models.
Children. DebtSnowballPro is a general-audience service for adults; we knowingly collect no personal data from anyone.
Changes. We will post changes here with a new effective date.
