dice_notation_explainer — Parses real dice notation ("XdY+Z" sums, "kh"/"kl"/"dh"/"dl" keep-or-drop modifiers, or a ">=" style success-counting dice pool) and computes genuine min/max/average statistics — actual dice math, not a lookup table. Use for "explain 3d6+2", "what's the average of 4d6 keep highest 3", "what can 6d10>=7 roll". Args: notation.
mechanic_concept — Explains one generic, system-agnostic tabletop RPG mechanic concept: what it is, why it exists, and how it's typically used, plus related concepts. Covers 30+ concepts across resolution/randomness, character building, combat, progression and narrative play. Use for "what's armor class", "explain advantage and disadvantage", "what's a dice pool". Args: name.
term_glossary — Defines common tabletop RPG terminology used across many different systems: GM/DM, PC, NPC, one-shot, homebrew, house rule, min-maxing, meta-gaming, railroading, sandbox play, theater of the mind, TPK, rules-lite, crunchy, retcon, safety tools, and more. Omit term to list every defined term. Use for "what does railroading mean", "what's a TPK", "what's the difference between rules-lite and crunchy". Args: term.
category_list — Every mechanic-concept category with how many concepts are in it (Core Resolution & Randomness, Character Building, Combat & Conflict, Progression & Rewards, Narrative & Group Play). Use for "what categories of RPG mechanics do you cover".
gm_advice — Practical game-master advice on a topic: a summary, concrete tips, and common pitfalls to avoid. Covers session zero, pacing, improvisation, session prep, running combat, spotlight balance, rules disputes, failing forward, worldbuilding, player absence, ending sessions, reading the table, new-GM confidence, NPC motivation, table dynamics, and note-taking. Use for "how do I pace a session", "tips for improvising", "how do I run combat faster". Args: topic.
beginner_tips — A ranked shortlist of practical starting tips for people new to tabletop RPGs, covering both players and new game masters, ordered from most to least essential. Use for "tips for my first session", "advice for a new GM", "what should a beginner player know". Args: count.
character_concept_explainer — Explains one generic character role/archetype that recurs across many different tabletop systems under different names: tank/defender, striker/damage dealer, healer/support, face/social character, skill monkey/utility expert, caster, scout/stealth, leader/commander, generalist, and trickster/wildcard. Includes typical traits, strengths, weaknesses and a play tip. Use for "what's a tank archetype", "how do I play a face character", "what's the difference between a striker and a tank". Args: name.
find_system_type_for_group — Suggests 1-3 generic tabletop RPG system TYPES (crunchy/tactical, rules-light, narrative-focused, old-school revival, dice-pool, point-buy/build-focused, universal/generic) matching a group's stated taste, each with what it's good for and typical traits. Real system names are referenced only as factual, illustrative examples, never reproduced content. Use for "what kind of system should a new group play", "we want something crunchy and tactical", "suggest a system for improv-heavy roleplay". Args: preference.
ok: true with data, or ok: false with a structured error (bad_input, not_found, upstream_error). degraded lists optional sources that were unreachable.Retry-After. initialize and tools/list are never counted.agent@connectorbay.com · connectorbay.com/dungeon/support

What Dungeon is. Dungeon is a connector (an MCP server and REST API) that AI assistants and personal agents call on your behalf for a hand-curated, system-agnostic tabletop RPG reference — real dice math, mechanics, GM advice and terms. You interact with your assistant; the assistant sends us only the arguments needed for that one lookup.
What we receive. The arguments of each tool call, the technical headers needed to serve the request (an IP address or a client identifier supplied by the assistant, and a Pro API key if you have one), and standard server logs.
Everything is answered from a bundled, hand-curated reference file and nothing is stored. No request is forwarded to any third party — there is no upstream call at all, live or otherwise — and no query is logged in request bodies, recorded, or used to train anything.
What we do not receive or store. We do not receive your conversation with the assistant or your name, and we do not build a profile from your queries: each request is answered independently and nothing carries over between requests. Rate-limit counters (a client identifier and timestamps) are held in memory for at most 24 hours. Hosting-provider access logs, which contain IP addresses and request paths but not request bodies, are retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention.
Sub-processors. None — the entire dataset is bundled with the server and answered locally. Hosting: Vercel (United States regions).
Legal bases and your rights. Our processing is necessary to provide the service you request through your assistant. Because we store no personal data beyond short-lived logs, requests to access, correct or delete personal data are usually satisfied automatically; you can still contact agent@connectorbay.com and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information and do not use your data to train models.
Children. Dungeon is a general-audience service operated by the adult using the assistant.
Changes. We will post changes here with a new effective date.
