When a conversation turns to Van Gogh's cypresses, a Chola Nataraja or the Great Wave, Gallery returns the museum's own record and a direct image — not a description from memory — along with who made it, when, in what, where it hangs and whether it is public domain.
One search across three of the largest open-access collections in the world: the Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York, ~490,000 records, CC0 images for public-domain works), the Art Institute of Chicago (~130,000 records, IIIF images) and the Cleveland Museum of Art (~60,000 records, CC0). Results are interleaved by museum and limited to works with images. Each artwork carries title, artist and biography line, date, medium, dimensions, object type, department, culture or period, credit line, on-view status and gallery, public-domain flag, image and thumbnail URLs, museum page and, where the museum wrote one, wall text. An artist tool gathers works across the museums with the Art Institute's dates and biography. Highlights pull the Met's flagged masterpieces, Chicago's boosted works and Cleveland's CC0 works for a topic; an artwork of the day picks deterministically from the Met's highlights. The Met's 19 departments are listed. A movement guide covers 31 movements from the Renaissance to Street Art, including the Bengal School, the Bombay Progressives and contemporary Indian art, with period, place, traits, artists and key works.
Not every museum: the Louvre, Prado, Rijksmuseum, Tate and Indian national collections either need keys or have no
open API. Full-text search at the Met ranks loosely (it matches credit lines and tags), so highlight results are
filtered for relevance where possible. Images of works still in copyright are provided under each museum's terms;
check public_domain before reuse.

What Gallery is. Gallery is a connector (an MCP server and REST API) that AI assistants and personal agents call on your behalf for art: searching open-access museum collections, artwork and artist details, highlights and an art-movement guide. You interact with your assistant; the assistant sends us only the search words or artwork id needed for the lookup.
What we receive. The arguments of each tool call (search words, an artist name, an artwork id, a movement name), the technical headers needed to serve the request (an IP address or a client identifier supplied by the assistant, and a Pro API key if you have one), and standard server logs.
Lookups are forwarded or computed, not stored. Search words are passed to the museum APIs below; the movement guide is a bundled table. We do not record your queries or build a profile. Nothing you send is stored, logged in request bodies or used to train anything. Successful museum answers are cached in memory for up to a week, keyed by the query.
What we do not receive or store. We do not receive your conversation with the assistant, your name or contacts or any account credentials. Rate-limit counters (a client identifier and timestamps) are held in memory for at most 24 hours. Hosting-provider access logs, which contain IP addresses and request paths but not request bodies, are retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention.
Sub-processors. The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Art Institute of Chicago and Cleveland Museum of Art collection APIs each receive the search words and our server's IP address, never yours. Image URLs in responses point directly at the museums' servers; loading an image is a request from your assistant or browser to that museum. Hosting: Vercel (United States regions).
Legal bases and your rights. For users in California, the EU/UK and elsewhere, our processing is necessary to provide the service you request through your assistant. Because we store no personal data beyond short-lived logs, requests to access, correct or delete personal data are usually satisfied automatically; you can still contact agent@connectorbay.com and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information and do not use your data to train models.
Children. Gallery is a general-audience service; we knowingly collect no personal data from anyone.
Changes. We will post changes here with a new effective date.
