Real questions, and the tools your agent calls to answer them.
airport_lookupairline_lookupsearch_airportssearch_airlinesairports_by_countryairlines_by_countryairports_by_regionregion_listclassify_codecode_glossaryIATA Code Lookup is a fully local IATA/ICAO airport and airline code reference. airport_lookup resolves one airport by its 3-letter IATA or 4-letter ICAO code to its full name, city, country and world region. airline_lookup resolves one airline by its 2-character IATA or 3-letter ICAO code to its name, country and ATC radio callsign. search_airports and search_airlines do a keyword search by name, city, country or callsign. airports_by_country and airlines_by_country list every entry for a country; airports_by_region and region_list browse by one of seven world regions. classify_code takes a bare code string and reports its shape and which coding system(s) it plausibly belongs to, resolving it if known. code_glossary defines IATA code, ICAO code, callsign, LID and prefix patterns. Keyless; fully local; zero upstream calls; nothing stored.
Sources: Hand-curated from published IATA/ICAO airport and airline designator conventions; spot-verified against Wikipedia's 'List of airports by IATA airport code' and 'List of airline codes' series (JFK/KJFK, JED/OEJN, JNB/FAOR, PKX/ZBAD, AA/AAL, AZ/ITY and 6E/IGO confirmed). A reference subset of major codes, not the complete IATA/ICAO registry; fully local, zero upstream calls.

"What airport is JFK?", "what's Delta's ICAO code?", "which airline uses the callsign SPEEDBIRD?" — a hand-curated reference that resolves the three-letter and four-letter codes stamped on every boarding pass, bag tag and flight plan, without guesswork.
airport_lookup resolves one airport by its 3-letter IATA code (the one on your bag tag and boarding pass) or
4-letter ICAO code (the one used in flight plans and air traffic control) to its full name, city, country and
world region, for 160 major airports worldwide. airline_lookup does the same for 81 major airlines, resolving a
2-character IATA code or 3-letter ICAO code to the airline's name, country and ATC radio callsign (the word a
pilot actually says on the radio, which is neither code). search_airports and search_airlines do a keyword
search across name, city, country and callsign. airports_by_country, airlines_by_country, airports_by_region
and region_list let you browse rather than look up one thing at a time. classify_code takes a bare code you're
not sure about and reports its shape (2-character alphanumeric, 3-letter, 4-letter) and which coding system(s) it
plausibly belongs to, resolving it if it's in the dataset. code_glossary explains the difference between an IATA
code, an ICAO code, a callsign and a LID (location identifier).
Not the complete IATA or ICAO registry — those run to several thousand entries each, including tiny regional airports and airlines that have long since stopped flying. This reference covers 160 major world airports and 81 major airlines, hand-curated and spot-checked against Wikipedia's own IATA airport-code and airline-code lists (entries including JFK/KJFK, JED/OEJN, JNB/FAOR, PKX/ZBAD, AA/AAL, AZ/ITY and 6E/IGO were confirmed against those lists while building this reference). A code not found here may still be perfectly real — it just isn't one of the major ones bundled. Airline codes in particular get reassigned occasionally when a carrier merges or ceases operating (Vistara's 2024 merger into Air India is one recent example), so for anything ticketing- or safety-critical, verify against IATA's or ICAO's own official code search rather than relying on any hand-curated list, including this one.

What IATA Code Lookup is. IATA Code Lookup is a connector (an MCP server and REST API) that AI assistants and personal agents call on your behalf for a hand-curated, fully local airport and airline code reference — code lookup, keyword search, country/region browsing, code-shape classification and a coding-systems glossary. You interact with your assistant; the assistant sends us only the arguments needed for that one lookup.
What we receive. The arguments of each tool call — a code, a search keyword, or a country/region name — the technical headers needed to serve the request (an IP address or a client identifier supplied by the assistant, and a Pro API key if you have one), and standard server logs.
Everything is answered from a bundled, hand-curated reference file and nothing is stored. No request is forwarded to any third party — there is no upstream call at all, live or otherwise — and no query is logged in request bodies, recorded, or used to train anything.
What we do not receive or store. We do not receive your conversation with the assistant or your name, and we do not build a profile from your queries: each request is answered independently and nothing carries over between requests. Rate-limit counters (a client identifier and timestamps) are held in memory for at most 24 hours. Hosting-provider access logs, which contain IP addresses and request paths but not request bodies, are retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention.
Sub-processors. None — the entire dataset is bundled with the server and answered locally. Hosting: Vercel (United States regions).
Legal bases and your rights. Our processing is necessary to provide the service you request through your assistant. Because we store no personal data beyond short-lived logs, requests to access, correct or delete personal data are usually satisfied automatically; you can still contact agent@connectorbay.com and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information and do not use your data to train models.
Children. IATA Code Lookup is a general-audience service operated by the adult using the assistant.
