Real questions, and the tools your agent calls to answer them.
compoundcompound_safetycompound_searchelementperiodic_tablemolar_massbalance_equationsolution_calcph_calcideal_gasMolecule puts PubChem and a chemistry notebook behind one connector. Compound lookup by common or IUPAC name, CAS number, SMILES, InChIKey or CID: formula, molecular weight, exact mass, SMILES, InChIKey, XLogP, TPSA, H-bond counts, description, synonyms, structure image. GHS safety classification aggregated by PubChem — pictograms, signal word, hazard statements with notifier shares, precautionary codes. Name autocomplete. A bundled periodic table with mass, category, period/group/block, electron configuration, electronegativity, ionisation energies, density, melting and boiling points and a summary, filterable by group, period, category, block or phase. Calculators: molar mass and percent composition, equation balancing, solution and dilution arithmetic, pH of strong/weak acids, bases and buffers, and the ideal gas law. Keyless; nothing stored; reference, not safety advice.

Compounds from PubChem (NIH's open chemistry database, 100+ million substances): look up by common name, IUPAC name, CAS number, SMILES, InChIKey or CID and get formula, molecular weight and exact mass, IUPAC name, SMILES, InChIKey, XLogP, polar surface area, H-bond donors/acceptors, rotatable bonds, a plain-language description with its source, synonyms, a structure image and the PubChem page. GHS safety classification aggregated by PubChem from ECHA and other notifiers — pictograms, signal word, hazard statements with the share of notifiers reporting each, and precautionary codes. Name autocomplete for misspellings. A bundled periodic table with mass, category, period, group, block, electron configuration, electronegativity, electron affinity, ionisation energies, density, melting and boiling points, appearance, discovery and a summary, filterable by group, period, category, block or phase. Calculators: molar mass and percent composition (brackets, hydrates), chemical-equation balancing by linear algebra, solution arithmetic (mass ↔ moles ↔ molarity, M1V1 = M2V2, what to weigh out), pH of strong and weak acids and bases (exact quadratic, built-in pKa/pKb table or your own) and buffers, and the ideal gas law.
Not a safety data sheet: GHS summaries are aggregated notifications, and the supplier's SDS governs handling. Not a substitute for a chemistry course — calculators assume ideal behaviour and complete or single dissociation. PubChem enforces about five requests a second, so bursts may return a temporary upstream error; retry.
compound — A compound's identity and properties from PubChem: formula, molecular weight, exact mass, IUPAC name, SMILES, InChIKey, XLogP, TPSA, H-bond counts, description, synonyms, CAS, structure image and link; optionally the GHS hazard summary. Use for "what is ibuprofen's formula", "properties of ethanol". Args: query, include_safety.
compound_search — Autocomplete compound names from PubChem — for misspellings or to discover exact names before compound. Args: prefix, limit.
compound_safety — GHS classification for a substance: pictograms, signal word, hazard statements (H-codes with the share of notifiers reporting them), precautionary codes. Use for "is toluene dangerous", "hazards of bleach". Args: query.
element — Everything about one element: mass, category, period/group/block, electron configuration, electronegativity, ionisation energies, density, melting and boiling points, appearance, discovery and a summary. Args: query.
periodic_table — List elements by group, period, category, block or phase — compact rows (number, symbol, name, mass, category, electronegativity, melting point). No filter returns all 118. Use for "noble gases", "period 4 elements", "which elements are liquid at room temperature". Args: group, period, category, block, phase.
molar_mass — Molar mass and percent composition from a formula. Use for "molar mass of glucose", "percent of copper in CuSO4·5H2O". Args: formula.
balance_equation — Balance a chemical equation and give each species' molar mass. Use for "balance C3H8 + O2 -> CO2 + H2O". Args: equation.
solution_calc — Solution arithmetic: mass ↔ moles ↔ molarity for a volume, dilution (M1V1 = M2V2), how much stock to take for a target, or how much solid to weigh. Use for "how many grams of NaCl for 500 mL of 0.15 M", "dilute 10 mL of 2 M HCl to 100 mL". Args: solute, mass_g, moles, volume_ml, molarity, dilute_to_ml, target_molarity.
ph_calc — pH of strong or weak acids and bases at a concentration (exact quadratic for weak), buffer pH by Henderson–Hasselbalch, or conversions from a pH. Use for "pH of 0.01 M HCl", "pH of 0.1 M acetic acid", "buffer 0.1 M acetic acid / 0.2 M acetate". Args: species, concentration, pka, pkb, acid_conc, base_conc, given_ph.
ideal_gas — Solve PV = nRT for the missing quantity (give three), with kPa and °C conversions and, with a formula, mass and density. Use for "volume of 2 mol gas at STP", "moles of CO2 in 5 L at 2 atm and 300 K". Args: pressure_atm, volume_l, moles, temperature_k, mass_g, formula.

What Molecule is. Molecule is a connector (an MCP server and REST API) that AI assistants and personal agents call on your behalf for chemistry information: compound properties and safety data from PubChem, element data, and molar-mass, equation, solution, pH and gas calculations. You interact with your assistant; the assistant sends us only the compound name or identifier, formula, equation or numbers needed for the answer.
What we receive. The arguments of each tool call (a compound name or identifier, an element, a formula or equation, concentrations and volumes), the technical headers needed to serve the request (an IP address or a client identifier supplied by the assistant, and a Pro API key if you have one), and standard server logs.
Lookups are forwarded or computed, not stored. Compound queries are passed to PubChem; element data and all calculators run on our server. We do not record your queries or build a profile. Nothing you send is stored, logged in request bodies or used to train anything. Successful PubChem answers are cached in memory for up to a day, keyed by the query.
What we do not receive or store. We do not receive your conversation with the assistant, your name, contacts, lab records or any account credentials. Rate-limit counters (a client identifier and timestamps) are held in memory for at most 24 hours. Hosting-provider access logs, which contain IP addresses and request paths but not request bodies, are retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention.
Sub-processors. PubChem (U.S. National Library of Medicine) receives the compound identifier and our server's IP address, never yours. Hosting: Vercel (United States regions).
Legal bases and your rights. For users in California, the EU/UK and elsewhere, our processing is necessary to provide the service you request through your assistant. Because we store no personal data beyond short-lived logs, requests to access, correct or delete personal data are usually satisfied automatically; you can still contact agent@connectorbay.com and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information and do not use your data to train models.
Children. Molecule is a general-audience service, used by students among others; we knowingly collect no personal data from anyone.
Changes. We will post changes here with a new effective date.
