What Panchang is for

The Hindu almanac for any place in the world, computed rather than looked up: today's tithi and nakshatra, when they end, which lunar month and samvat it is, the day's Rahu Kaal and auspicious windows, the Choghadiya and Hora tables, the dates of festivals and fasts this year and next, and the moon sign and nakshatra a person was born under.

What it does

Daily panchang at local sunrise with end times (tithi, nakshatra with pada and lord, yoga, karana, vaara, paksha, amanta and purnimanta month with adhika flagged, Vikram and Shaka samvat, Kali year, ritu, ayana), sunrise, sunset, moonrise, moonset and moon illumination, moon and sun rashi. Muhurta periods: Rahu Kaal, Yamaganda, Gulika Kaal, Bhadra (Vishti) hours, Abhijit, Brahma Muhurta, Pradosh and Nishita. Day and night Choghadiya; the 24 planetary Horas. Festivals and vrats for a year or month, or the next few: fifty-plus lunar rules (Diwali, Holi, Navaratri and Dussehra, Janmashtami, Ganesh Chaturthi, Raksha Bandhan, Maha Shivaratri, Rama Navami, Karva Chauth, Chhath, Guru Purnima, Tulsi Vivah…), sankranti festivals (Makar Sankranti/Pongal, Baisakhi/Vishu/Puthandu), Onam by nakshatra, Ekadashis with names, and national days. Upcoming Ekadashi, Purnima, Amavasya, Pradosh and Sankashti Chaturthi. Gregorian to Hindu date, and Hindu lunar date to Gregorian for any year. All twelve sankranti times with Tamil and Malayalam month names. Birth moon sign, nakshatra, pada and naming syllable. Nakshatra and rashi reference. A month-at-a-glance calendar.

How it computes

Sun and Moon apparent geocentric longitudes from PyEphem (VSOP87/ELP-based), Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) ayanamsa, sunrise and sunset for the given coordinates with standard refraction. Tithi and nakshatra end times are found by root-finding on the elongation and sidereal longitude, accurate to about a minute — the same physics every published panchang uses. Festival days follow the common udaya (sunrise), madhyahna, aparahna, pradosh and nishita rules and skip adhika months; the rule applied is returned with each date.

What it is not

Not a horoscope: no lagna, houses, dashas or predictions. Regional almanacs (Tamil, Bengali, Malayalam, Gujarati, Vaishnava) can differ by a day for particular observances — check the note field and your family tradition.

Conventions

  • Read-only. Every tool reads public data or computes; nothing is written anywhere and nothing about the user is stored.
  • Result envelope. ok: true with data, or ok: false with a structured error (bad_input, not_found, upstream_error). degraded lists optional sources that were unreachable.
  • Rate limits. Free tier 60 tool calls/minute and 300/day per user (keyed on the user identifier supplied by the host agent, else client IP); Pro keys raise this. Over-limit calls return HTTP 429 with Retry-After. initialize and tools/list are never counted.

Privacy policy

Panchang — Privacy Policy

Effective 23 September 2026. Unify Dynamics LLC ("we", "us"), Menlo Park, California.

What Panchang is. Panchang is a connector (an MCP server and REST API) that AI assistants and personal agents call on your behalf for the Hindu calendar: daily panchang, muhurta periods, Choghadiya, Hora, festival and fast dates, Hindu date conversion, sankranti times, birth rashi and nakshatra. You interact with your assistant; the assistant sends us only the date, place name or coordinates, and (for birth rashi) a date-time needed for the computation.

What we receive. The arguments of each tool call (a date, a place or latitude/longitude, a festival name, a year, a birth date-time), the technical headers needed to serve the request (an IP address or a client identifier supplied by the assistant, and a Pro API key if you have one), and standard server logs.

Computed, not stored. Everything is computed in memory on our server from astronomical formulas and a bundled gazetteer. A birth date-time you provide is used for that one computation and is not stored, logged in request bodies or used for anything else. Festival tables for a year are cached in memory (they contain no personal data). A place name that is not in the bundled gazetteer is sent to Open-Meteo's geocoder to obtain coordinates; nothing else leaves the server.

What we do not receive or store. We do not receive your conversation with the assistant, your name, contacts, or any account credentials. Rate-limit counters (a client identifier and timestamps) are held in memory for at most 24 hours. Hosting-provider access logs, which contain IP addresses and request paths but not request bodies, are retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention.

Sub-processors. Open-Meteo (geocoding-api.open-meteo.com) receives a place name only when it is not in the bundled gazetteer, with our server's IP address, never yours. Hosting: Vercel (United States regions).

Legal bases and your rights. For users in California, the EU/UK and elsewhere, our processing is necessary to provide the service you request through your assistant. Because we store no personal data beyond short-lived logs, requests to access, correct or delete personal data are usually satisfied automatically; you can still contact agent@connectorbay.com and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information and do not use your data to train models.

Children. Panchang is a general-audience service operated by the adult using the assistant.

Changes. We will post changes here with a new effective date.

Terms of service

Panchang — Terms of Service

Effective 23 September 2026. These terms govern use of the Panchang connector ("the Service") operated by Unify Dynamics LLC ("we", "us").

  1. The Service. Panchang computes Hindu-calendar information — daily panchang, muhurta periods, Choghadiya, Hora, festival and vrat dates, Hindu date conversion, sankranti times, birth rashi and nakshatra — for a place and date. It is accessed through an AI assistant or directly over MCP or HTTP.
  2. Sources and method. Computations use PyEphem (Sun and Moon positions), the Lahiri ayanamsa and widely used almanac rules; the gazetteer is derived from GeoNames (CC BY 4.0) and Open-Meteo's geocoder is used for places outside it. Festival names and rules are editorial.
  3. Accuracy and tradition. Astronomical instants are accurate to about a minute; the civil day assigned to a festival follows the rule stated with each result, and regional or sectarian almanacs may differ by a day. The Service provides calendar information, not religious, astrological, medical, legal or financial advice; decisions taken on the basis of muhurta or rashi information are your own.
  4. Acceptable use. Do not use the Service to bulk-generate calendars for resale without attribution, or to circumvent rate limits. Automated use within the published limits is welcome.
  5. Availability. The Service is provided "as is" without warranty. We may change, limit or discontinue it at any time.
  6. Data. Our Privacy Policy describes what we process. In short: your inputs are used for one computation and nothing is stored.
  7. Attribution. PyEphem; GeoNames; Open-Meteo.
  8. Pro keys. Optional Pro API keys are issued at our discretion, are personal to the holder and may be revoked for abuse.
  9. Liability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Unify Dynamics LLC is not liable for any loss arising from use of or reliance on the Service. Our total liability is limited to US $100.
  10. Governing law. California law; venue in San Mateo County, California.
