About

Scam Shield is a fully local, hand-curated online-shopping scam red-flags guide, general-audience and e-commerce-specific. checkout_red_flags and urgency_tactics cover what to notice at checkout. compare_payment_methods and payment_method_lookup rank credit card, PayPal, Venmo/Cash App, wire transfer, crypto, and gift cards by buyer protection and reversibility. fake_storefront_signals and social_media_ad_signals cover a whole site or an ad/seller account. how_to_verify_a_store gives concrete pre-purchase checks, and what_to_do_if_scammed covers chargebacks, reporting, and account hygiene afterward. checkout_risk_score combines observed signals into one rough composite score. Distinct from Silver Ally's senior-specific phone/mail/benefits-scam guidance: this covers online shopping only. Keyless; fully local; zero upstream calls; nothing stored.

Sources: Hand-curated from widely published consumer-protection and payment-network guidance (e.g. FTC online shopping guidance, card network buyer-protection terms) as of build date; fully local, zero upstream calls

What Scam Shield is for

"Is it safe to pay this seller with Venmo?", "why does this checkout feel rushed?", "how do I tell if this whole website is fake?", "I think I just got scammed buying something online, what do I do?" — a hand-curated, general-audience guide to online-shopping scam red flags, framed as general education, not a determination about any specific store or seller.

What it does

checkout_red_flags covers tells on a checkout page itself (no HTTPS, payment limited to wire/crypto/gift-cards, missing business info, a mismatched domain). urgency_tactics explains manufactured pressure — countdown timers, fake low-stock counters, fake purchase popups — and how to see through it. compare_payment_methods and payment_method_lookup rank common payment methods by buyer protection and reversibility, the single most actionable piece of advice here. fake_storefront_signals and social_media_ad_signals cover signals for a whole site or an ad/seller account respectively. how_to_verify_a_store gives concrete steps to check an unfamiliar store before paying, and what_to_do_if_scammed covers the aftermath — chargebacks, reporting, account hygiene. checkout_risk_score is the one pure-compute tool: it combines whatever signals you've observed into a rough composite risk read.

How this differs from Silver Ally

ConnectorBay also offers Silver Ally, which includes scam guidance aimed specifically at seniors and covers phone calls, mail, and government/benefits-impersonation scams (Medicare, Social Security, grandparent scams, tech- support calls). Scam Shield is a separate, general-audience connector focused specifically on online shopping: checkout pages, fake storefronts, shopping ads, and payment-method choice for a purchase. It does not cover phone, mail, or benefits-impersonation scams.

What it is not

This is education, not a fraud investigation service. Nothing here inspects, verifies, or determines that a specific store, listing, seller, or transaction is fraudulent — it explains widely known general tells so you can judge for yourself, and points you toward your card issuer, payment provider, and consumer-protection agencies when something has actually gone wrong.

Privacy policy

Scam Shield — Privacy Policy

Effective 25 September 2026. Unify Dynamics LLC ("we", "us"), Menlo Park, California.

What Scam Shield is. Scam Shield is a connector (an MCP server and REST API) that AI assistants and personal agents call on your behalf for a hand-curated, e-commerce-specific guide to online-shopping scam red flags: checkout page tells, urgency tactics, a payment-method buyer-protection comparison, fake storefront and social-media-ad signals, verification steps, and what to do if you've been scammed. You interact with your assistant; the assistant sends us only the arguments needed for that one lookup.

What we receive. The arguments of each tool call, the technical headers needed to serve the request (an IP address or a client identifier supplied by the assistant, and a Pro API key if you have one), and standard server logs.

Everything is answered from a bundled, hand-curated reference file and nothing is stored. No request is forwarded to any third party — there is no upstream call at all, live or otherwise — and no query is logged in request bodies, recorded, or used to train anything.

What we do not receive or store. We do not receive your conversation with the assistant or your name, and we do not build a profile from your queries: each request is answered independently and nothing carries over between requests. Rate-limit counters (a client identifier and timestamps) are held in memory for at most 24 hours. Hosting-provider access logs, which contain IP addresses and request paths but not request bodies, are retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention.

Sub-processors. None — the entire dataset is bundled with the server and answered locally. Hosting: Vercel (United States regions).

Legal bases and your rights. Our processing is necessary to provide the service you request through your assistant. Because we store no personal data beyond short-lived logs, requests to access, correct or delete personal data are usually satisfied automatically; you can still contact agent@connectorbay.com and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information and do not use your data to train models.

Children. Scam Shield is a general-audience service operated by the adult using the assistant.

Changes. We will post changes here with a new effective date.

Terms of service

Scam Shield — Terms of Service

Effective 25 September 2026. These terms govern use of the Scam Shield connector ("the Service") operated by Unify Dynamics LLC ("we", "us").

  1. The Service. Scam Shield returns a hand-curated, e-commerce-specific guide to online-shopping scam red flags: checkout page tells, urgency tactics, a payment-method buyer-protection comparison, fake storefront and social-media-ad signals, verification steps, and what to do if you've been scammed. It is accessed through an AI assistant or directly over MCP or HTTP.
  2. General information, not a fraud determination or legal/financial advice. Scam Shield provides general, hand-curated reference information about widely known online-shopping scam patterns. It does not investigate, verify, or determine that any specific store, listing, seller, or transaction is or is not fraudulent, and it is not legal or financial advice. For a specific dispute, chargeback, or suspected fraud, contact your card issuer or payment provider and the relevant consumer-protection agency directly.
  3. Reference, not guaranteed-current. Content reflects general, widely published practice as of the build date stated in the Service's own data. Some figures, dates or rules change over time and vary by brand, retailer or region — always verify anything decision-critical against a primary source.
  4. Acceptable use. Automated use within the published rate limits is welcome.
  5. Availability. The Service is provided "as is" without warranty. We may change, limit or discontinue it at any time.
  6. Data. Our Privacy Policy describes what we process. In short: your query is answered from a bundled reference file, and nothing is stored.
  7. Pro keys. Optional Pro API keys are issued at our discretion, are personal to the holder and may be revoked for abuse.
  8. Liability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Unify Dynamics LLC is not liable for any loss, injury, or damage arising from use of, or reliance on, the Service. Our total liability is limited to US $100.
  9. Governing law. California law; venue in San Mateo County, California.
