Real questions, and the tools your agent calls to answer them.
search_jobssearch_jobsjob_detailscompanieshn_hiringsalary_rangestrending_skillsposting_keywordsCareers turns a job hunt into one call. search_jobs runs across Remotive, Jobicy, Himalayas and Remote OK (remote roles worldwide), The Muse (on-site and hybrid roles with location, level and company filters) and Arbeitnow (Europe), merges and de-duplicates the results, ranks them by relevance, source quality and recency, prefers an exact location match and offers remote alternatives, and returns each posting with title, company, location, remote flag, salary when posted, type, level, tags, date, source, excerpt and the link to apply. job_details returns the full description. companies gives profiles from The Muse's directory. hn_hiring filters the current 'Ask HN: Who is hiring?' thread. salary_ranges summarises posted pay for a title per currency. trending_skills counts which skills postings for a role mention. posting_keywords extracts skills (350-term list), years, degree, remote/hybrid, salary mentions and required/nice-to-have lines from a pasted job ad — locally, so the text goes nowhere. It reads boards; it never sees a CV. Keyless; nothing stored.

One search runs across the boards that publish open APIs — Remotive, Jobicy, Himalayas and Remote OK for remote roles worldwide, The Muse for on-site and hybrid roles with location, level and company filters, Arbeitnow for Europe — plus the monthly "Ask HN: Who is hiring?" thread, and returns real postings with links to apply. Around the search: what a role is being paid according to postings that state it, which skills postings for a role mention most, company profiles, and a local extractor that pulls skills and requirements out of a job description the user pastes so a CV can be tailored to it.
Federated search merged, de-duplicated (title + company) and ranked by relevance, source quality and recency, with an exact-location match preferred and remote roles offered as alternatives when a city is asked for; each result carries title, company, location, remote flag, salary when posted, type, level, category, tags, date, source and an excerpt. Full descriptions on request. Company profiles from The Muse's directory (description, industries, locations, size). The current HN hiring thread filtered by keywords, top-level postings only, with remote/onsite/visa flags. Posted salary ranges per currency (low/median/high of ranges) with the postings behind them. Trending skills per role. Keyword extraction from a posting: skills from a 350-term list, years, degree, remote/hybrid, salary mentions, required and nice-to-have lines. Category and level names for precise searches.
Careers does not apply, upload a CV or contact employers; it reads public boards and links to them. Coverage is strongest for remote and tech roles and U.S. on-site roles (The Muse); it is not LinkedIn or Indeed, which have no open API. Salaries are as posted by employers, not estimates. Postings can be stale — the board's page is authoritative.
search_jobs — Search jobs across Remotive, Jobicy, Himalayas, Remote OK, The Muse and Arbeitnow at once: merged, de-duplicated, ranked by relevance then recency, with a salary summary from any postings that state pay. Use for "remote Python jobs", "entry-level data analyst in Chicago", "nursing jobs", "marketing roles at Uber". Args: query, location, remote_only, level, category, company, max_results.
job_details — The full description of a posting returned by search_jobs (plain text), plus its extracted skills and requirements. Works for any result from the last few hours of searches; The Muse postings can also be fetched by id. Use after a search when the user asks "tell me more about that one". Args: url.
job_categories — The category and level names the boards accept (The Muse categories and levels; Remotive categories), for building precise searches.
companies — Company profiles from The Muse: description, industries, office locations, size, profile and jobs pages — by name, or browse by industry, city and size. Use for "tell me about Uber as an employer", "large tech companies in Austin". Args: name, industry, location, size, max_results.
hn_hiring — Postings from the latest monthly "Ask HN: Who is hiring?" thread on Hacker News — company, headline (role | location | remote/onsite | salary as written), full text and link — filtered by keywords. Startups and engineering roles mostly. Use for "who is hiring on HN for Rust", "HN hiring thread, remote, Europe". Args: query, max_results.
salary_ranges — Posted pay for a role, gathered from every board result that states a salary: low/median/high of the posted ranges per currency, the postings behind them, and how many postings had no salary. Real postings, not estimates. Use for "what are data engineers being offered", "salary ranges for senior PMs right now". Args: title, location.
trending_skills — Which skills current postings for a role mention most — counted across boards from tags, titles and excerpts — with the share of postings naming each. Use for "what skills do data engineer jobs ask for", "what's in demand for frontend roles". Args: query, top.
posting_keywords — Extract what a job description asks for: skills and tools (350-term list), years of experience, degree mentions, remote/hybrid, salary mentions, 'required' and 'nice to have' lines, and frequent words — to tailor a CV or cover letter. Local; the text is not sent anywhere. Use for "what are the key requirements in this ad", "which keywords should my resume include for this job". Args: text.
ok: true with data, or ok: false with a structured error (bad_input, not_found, upstream_error). degraded lists optional sources that were unreachable.Retry-After. initialize and tools/list are never counted.agent@connectorbay.com · connectorbay.com/careers/support

What Careers is. Careers is a connector (an MCP server and REST API) that AI assistants and personal agents call on your behalf to search public job boards, read postings and company profiles, summarise posted salaries and skills, and extract keywords from a job description. You interact with your assistant; the assistant sends us only the search terms, filters or posting text needed for the lookup.
What we receive. The arguments of each tool call (a search phrase, location, level, category, company name, a posting URL, or the text of a job description you paste), the technical headers needed to serve the request (an IP address or a client identifier supplied by the assistant, and a Pro API key if you have one), and standard server logs.
Lookups are forwarded, not stored; your documents stay local. Search terms are passed to the boards below and the answers are merged on our server. Text sent to posting_keywords is analysed in memory on our server and never sent to any third party. We never receive or handle your CV, résumé, name, contact details or application materials — the connector reads boards, it does not apply — and we do not build a profile of your searches. Nothing you send is stored, logged in request bodies, profiled or used to train anything. Board answers are cached in memory for 15 minutes to 24 hours, keyed by the query, to reduce load on the boards; full posting texts are cached for 6 hours so job_details can return them.
What we do not receive or store. We do not receive your conversation with the assistant, or credentials for any service. Rate-limit counters (a client identifier and timestamps) are held in memory for at most 24 hours. Hosting-provider access logs, which contain IP addresses and request paths but not request bodies, are retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention.
Sub-processors. Search terms and filters are sent to Remotive, Jobicy, Himalayas, The Muse, Arbeitnow, Remote OK and Hacker News (Algolia); each receives the query and our server's IP address, never yours. Hosting: Vercel (United States regions).
Legal bases and your rights. For users in California, the EU/UK and elsewhere, our processing is necessary to provide the service you request through your assistant. Because we store no personal data beyond short-lived logs, requests to access, correct or delete personal data are usually satisfied automatically; you can still contact agent@connectorbay.com and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information and do not use your data to train models.
Children. Careers is a general-audience service operated by the adult using the assistant.
Changes. We will post changes here with a new effective date.
