About

Salah gives Muslims the times and dates their day runs on. Prayer times for any city or coordinates on earth, computed locally with the standard methods (ISNA, Muslim World League, Umm al-Qura, Egypt, Karachi, Dubai, Kuwait, Qatar, Singapore, Moonsighting Committee, UOIF) and Hanafi or Shafi Asr; the next prayer and how long is left, with the current prayer window; a monthly timetable; the Qibla bearing; today's Hijri date and conversions both ways on the Umm al-Qura calendar; the Islamic events of a period; a Ramadan planner with suhoor and iftar for every day and fast lengths; and the recommended fasting days. 34,000 places bundled, with a fallback geocoder for small towns. No keys; nothing stored; local mosques and moon sighting take precedence.

Sources: Computed locally (adhanpy, hijri-converter, Umm al-Qura calendar); GeoNames gazetteer (CC BY 4.0); OpenStreetMap Nominatim fallback

What Salah is for

Salah gives Muslims the times and dates their day runs on — for any place on earth, computed locally, with the method their community uses. The five prayer times plus sunrise, Islamic midnight and the last third of the night; which prayer is next and how long is left; a month's timetable; the Qibla bearing; today's Hijri date and conversions both ways on the Umm al-Qura calendar; the key dates of the Islamic year; a Ramadan planner with suhoor and iftar for every day; and the recommended fasting days with the forbidden ones marked.

How it computes

  • Prayer times use adhanpy (a port of the Adhan library) with eleven calculation methods. The method is chosen from the country when the person does not name one (U.S./Canada → ISNA, Saudi Arabia → Umm al-Qura, Egypt → Egyptian, South Asia → Karachi, UAE → Dubai, Singapore/Indonesia → MUIS, U.K. → Moonsighting Committee, France → UOIF, elsewhere → Muslim World League) and every answer names it. Asr is Shafi by default; madhab: hanafi gives the later Asr. High latitudes use the middle-of-the-night rule.
  • Hijri dates are the Umm al-Qura calendar (hijri-converter). Actual observance of Ramadan and the Eids follows local moon sighting and can differ by a day; every date-bearing answer says so.
  • Places come from a bundled GeoNames gazetteer (34,148 places with population ≥ 15,000, with time zones); smaller places fall back to OpenStreetMap Nominatim; coordinates always work and take the nearest bundled city's time zone.

Cross-checked against Aladhan's reference times: within one to two minutes for every method tested.

Tools

Times

prayer_times — The five prayer times (plus sunrise, Islamic midnight and the last third of the night) for a place and date, computed locally with the standard method for that country unless one is given; Hanafi or Shafi Asr. Use for "prayer times in Riyadh on Friday", "when is Maghrib today", "Fajr in Fremont tomorrow". Args: place, latitude, longitude, day, method, madhab.

next_prayer — Which prayer is next at a place and how long until it, plus the current prayer window (what can still be prayed now and when it ends). Use for "how long until Isha", "can I still pray Asr", "when's the next prayer". Args: place, latitude, longitude, method, madhab, now.

monthly_timetable — A full month of prayer times for a place, one row per day with the Hijri date, ready to print or put in a calendar. Use for "prayer timetable for October", "send me this month's times for Houston". Args: place, latitude, longitude, month, method, madhab.

qibla — Qibla direction from a place: compass bearing (degrees from true north, and the compass point) and distance to the Kaaba. Use for "which way is the Qibla", "Qibla from this hotel". Args: place, latitude, longitude.

Dates & seasons

hijri_date — Today's Hijri date, or convert any date between the Gregorian and the Umm al-Qura Hijri calendars, with month names in English and Arabic and the events on that day. Use for "what's the Islamic date today", "when is 1 Ramadan 1448", "what Gregorian date is 10 Muharram next year". Args: day.

islamic_events — The Islamic calendar's key dates in a period — Ramadan start, Laylat al-Qadr, Eid al-Fitr, Hajj days, Arafah, Eid al-Adha, Islamic New Year, Ashura, Mawlid, Isra and Mi'raj — as Gregorian dates with the weekday and days-until. Use for "when is Ramadan next year", "when is Eid", "Islamic holidays in 2027". Args: start, days.

ramadan_planner — Every day of a Ramadan at a place: suhoor ends (Fajr), iftar (Maghrib), fast length, Taraweeh (after Isha), with the first day, Laylat al-Qadr odd nights and Eid al-Fitr called out. Use for "iftar times for Ramadan in Cairo", "how long are the fasts in Oslo this year", "when is suhoor on the 27th night". Args: place, latitude, longitude, year, method, madhab.

fasting_days — Recommended voluntary fasting days in a period — Mondays and Thursdays, the White Days (13-15 of each Hijri month), Arafah, Ashura, six days of Shawwal — and the days when fasting is forbidden (both Eids, Tashreeq), with the Hijri date for each. Use for "which days should I fast this month", "when are the White Days", "can I fast on Friday the 12th". Args: start, days.

Reference

calculation_methods — The calculation methods Salah supports (Fajr/Isha angles and the regions that use each) and the country → method default, so the person can pick the one their mosque uses. Use for "why are my times different", "which method does Saudi use".

Conventions

  • Read-only. Every tool reads public data or computes; nothing is written anywhere and nothing about the user is stored.
  • Result envelope. ok: true with data, or ok: false with a structured error (bad_input, not_found, upstream_error). degraded lists optional sources that were unreachable.
  • Rate limits. Free tier 60 tool calls/minute and 300/day per user (keyed on the user identifier supplied by the host agent, else client IP); Pro keys raise this. Over-limit calls return HTTP 429 with Retry-After. initialize and tools/list are never counted.

Privacy policy

Salah — Privacy Policy

Effective 22 September 2026. Unify Dynamics LLC ("we", "us"), Menlo Park, California.

What Salah is. Salah is a connector (an MCP server and REST API) that AI assistants and personal agents call on your behalf for prayer times, the Qibla, Hijri dates, Islamic events, Ramadan planning and fasting days. You interact with your assistant; the assistant sends us only the specific request needed: a place name or coordinates, a date, a calculation method or madhab.

What we receive. The arguments of each tool call, the technical headers needed to serve the request (an IP address or a client identifier supplied by the assistant, and a Pro API key if you have one), and standard server logs.

What we do not receive or store. We do not receive your conversation with the assistant, your name, contacts, or credentials for any service. We do not keep a record of where you are: a place or coordinate is used to compute the answer in memory and is not stored. Rate-limit counters (a client identifier and timestamps) are held in memory for at most 24 hours. Hosting-provider access logs, which contain IP addresses and request paths but not request bodies, are retained for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention.

Religious information. Using Salah implies an interest in Islamic practice. We do not record, profile or share that; nothing links a request to a person.

Sub-processors. Prayer times, Hijri dates and Qibla are computed on our server with no external call. Places are resolved from a gazetteer bundled with the connector; only when a place is not in it do we send the place name (never anything about you) to OpenStreetMap Nominatim (OpenStreetMap Foundation). Hosting: Vercel (United States regions).

Legal bases and your rights. For users in California, the EU/UK and elsewhere, our processing is necessary to provide the service you request through your assistant. Because we store no personal data beyond short-lived logs, requests to access, correct or delete personal data are usually satisfied automatically; you can still contact agent@connectorbay.com and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell or share personal information and do not use your data to train models.

Children. Salah is a general-audience service operated by the adult using the assistant.

Changes. We will post changes here with a new effective date.

Terms of service

Salah — Terms of Service

Effective 22 September 2026. These terms govern use of the Salah connector ("the Service") operated by Unify Dynamics LLC ("we", "us").

  1. The Service. Salah computes prayer times, the Qibla, Hijri dates and related Islamic calendar information and is accessed through an AI assistant or directly over MCP or HTTP.
  2. Local authorities take precedence. Prayer times are astronomical calculations by a named method; your mosque's timetable and iqamah times, and your community's moon-sighting announcements for Ramadan, Eid and other dates, take precedence over anything the Service returns. Dates follow the Umm al-Qura calendar and may differ from local observance by a day.
  3. Not religious rulings. Notes about fasting days, prayer windows and travel are general information from widely held positions; they are not fatwas. Consult a qualified scholar for your situation and school.
  4. Acceptable use. Do not use the Service to overwhelm the underlying services or to circumvent rate limits. Automated use within the published limits is welcome.
  5. Availability. The Service is provided "as is" without warranty. We may change, limit or discontinue it at any time.
  6. Data. Our Privacy Policy describes what we process. In short: nothing about you is stored.
  7. Attribution. Place data © GeoNames (CC BY 4.0) and OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL); calculation libraries adhanpy and hijri-converter (MIT).
  8. Pro keys. Optional Pro API keys are issued at our discretion, are personal to the holder and may be revoked for abuse.
  9. Liability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Unify Dynamics LLC is not liable for any loss arising from use of or reliance on the Service. Our total liability is limited to US $100.
  10. Governing law. California law; venue in San Mateo County, California.
